What is a GRiSO

As I look through posts there are Grisos set up as off road bikes, cafe racers, track bikes, you name it.
One of the things about the GRiSO is that it doesn't neatly fit into a category.

Personally I see the GRiSO as a Gran Tourer. Compared to cars if the the MVs are a Lamborghini,
the GRiSO a classic Alfa Romeo.

The styling of the GRiSO is unique, there's nothing quite like it.
The setup of the GRiSO allows for comfortable riding all day and the fact that you have to use the gears
and ride takes it away from the cruiser concept. The 250 Klm range does mean having to plan your fuel stops or carry a reserve
but when doing serious touring you'll be using panniers and luggage anyway.

As with the cafe racers etc each of us has seen a particular concept in the GRiSO and customized our bikes to suit.

I'm wondering how others would classify their GRiSO ?

Pretty good description. For me, it's a cafe racer inspired thing. But it has no real equivalent anywhere else.

An intersting fact that I knew but had forgotten is that although GRiSO is an Italian fictional gangster, it also means Grey in Italian. Which is probably apt considering how old some of us are - GRiSO Power ?

Yeah, I call it a gentleman's roadster.

Gentleman, for the most part, just meaning an older fella.

It's a pretty sexy bike for a guy in his 50s (at least).

Yeah I see my GRiSO as an old guy mild mannered hooligan bike and back road burner. We have a lot of empty back roads here in Idaho.

Good question and not always easy to explain. Shes not a sports bike, shes not a tourer, nor a commuter, although she can with a few add-ons and in the right hands play a part in all three. I have always championed the oddball, bikes with a different persona, usually under the "character" umbrella where my riding buddies looked a me with pity.......especially some of the older Italian electrics and their shenanigans.
But on a good day when you are riding in that blissful moment where all the gear changes are sweet and corners are swept through with nonchalance and arrive at your destination with a big smile, turn to look again at her and those big jugs almost wink in reply, then you know why you purchased the best looking bike on the road bar none......in my opinion anyway

Advanced 1990s technology (in parts) bolted into a 1960s design.

Experimentally thin wiring,

enough electronics to make the electrics entertaining (to some).

The impression of unstoppable power with some parts so whimsical as to add a bit of stoppability

Makes me smile and laugh....mostly

Actually grey in Italian is Grigio. GRiSO remains the fictional character of Alessandro Manzoni : I promessi sposi (The Betrothed) and of course our beloved Moto Guzzi.

In the eyes of my insurance company, the GRiSO is a sport-touring bike. I tried to tell them it was more “touring” than “sport” but they weren’t having it.

To me, it’s a beautifully designed, hand made naked bike with few bells and whistles an yet is a joy to look at, listen to and ride. Moto Guzzi may have a middle-aged or older target market but it sure makes us look muscular as we ride by!
