| Bike week started so I went to check out the Guzzi stand there as they have demo rides for the first time in ages but only the new Cali and V7. I heard they'd be there from the local dealer (Red Ember) a couple of months ago and I wasn't expecting much... But I was wrong, the New York importer brought quite a few bikes and all the current models were on display but.............. They had the 2016 California "Audace". All carbon fiber with no running boards and a round headlamp. This thing is stunning IMO and priced at $15 Grands and some change. Best bang for the money if you're into cruisers... I'm going back tomorrow to test ride the V7. Anyway, here's a pic of that new Cali 1400: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Yeah, very stealthy. I'll get more pics and infos tomorrow... Here a pic of my sorry ass on a V7. Making the wife jealous since she can't be there this week end, and the next. So no Bike Week for her. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| The Coppa Rossa GRiSO is the star of that show. Glad to see them promoting the bikes. Perhaps they've finally hired someone who understands marketing. Certainly a step in the right direction. | |

| I agree. I talked to the people working for the importer and they said that Piaggio is gonna be more aggressive with marketing since they plan to up production. Of course, those guys could bullshit me but and I can't see Piaggio buying Guzzi and Aprilia solely for fucking around with motorcycles but rather making profits. I personally think that once they come up with liquid cooled mills it will be the beginning of a new era for Guzzi, and a new way to do business because they can't rely on the old school forever... I'll ask about the future of the GRiSO with ABS mandates for fun... see what they say. If they keep it in production, it will have to be redesigned somehow... | |

| Thanks for the intel and pic's on the new Audace. Seems the flat black is in...even Indian came out with their Dark Horse with similar visual impact. It might grow on me.
I am very interested in what you find out about Piaggio's plans for MG. | |

| OK real quick, I only have a few minutes right now... I've been told no ending to the GRiSO yet in 2016 so I asked where is Piaggio gonna find room for the ABS hardware? One guy said "Oh they'll find room". Great answer to my fucking question eh? But a smarter guy said that he thinks they might make room under the seat by going single TB and redesigning the air box. Maybe our Petemeister can tell us if it's feasible or not, after all that second guy could be dead wrong. Anyway, I ended up test riding the Cali again after the V7 and I just love the behavior of this bike despite those stupid floor boards but the Audace has regular pegs so that's the ticket. Also, the cool thing was that the Importer personnel were really nice people... from the cute girls to the counter guys setting demos and selling apparel to the guys going to the rides with us. They also were all over my GRiSO for some reason. They had that good looking copper one on display... I'll check back later and tell you guys how those test rides went... | |

| By the way... I forgot to update the Daytona thing. I noticed that the big Cali rear fender flaps around a lot when going over bumps on the road. I was following a couple of them on the V7 and it wasn't just one bike but all of them. My impression of the V7 on the test ride was that it's a light bike for sure and an around town thing but the engine vibrates a lot when you get on the throttle. Maybe it's a characteristic of the small block but I'd get tired of this quickly. The Cali is just a sweet ride and most folks already knew that... Went to hang out with Guzzi guys at the end of the day and have dinner with them at their usual restaurant... I spotted this restored old V7 with a custom valve cover. Sweet little ride. | LOL yeah. He cut out the embossed Guzzi logo and installed a piece of glass in the hole. Clean job. | |

| Great stuff Pascal. That Audace looks the business, love those red valve covers, and footpegs rule the day. That custom V7 valve cover reminds me of the "Bevel Gazer" on my '67 Ducati. Yeah Sir. The Audace is a winner with the footpegs and the engine treatment is well done. I like it a lot... | |

| If you mean not enough dealers, you won't see many more than that because Guzzi doesn't produce enough bikes at the moment. As of now it's like what? 10.000 units a year world wide, all models combined? LOL, that ain't much... | |
