PostSubject: Brake Question   Wed Apr 08, 2015 5:24 pm

So I have my pads, DOT4 and a pump. So I'm all set to change pads and bleed the lines.

But what about the rotors? They are still good, but do I clean/sand/scrub or even remove and machine?

Thanks!

When the thickness of the rotors is still good, you would have to do nothing to them. Let them as they are. Mount the new pad and bleed the lines. After that you have to brake softly for the next miles until pads and rotors had matched(don´t know if this is the right word).

If bike pads are like car pads, the bed-in procedure is to run up to speed (50 mph or so) and brake aggressively to a slow roll. Rinse and repeat about ten times. Try not to apply the brakes at a holding stop until the pads/rotors have cooled. I've done this with cars several times with no issues.
