PostSubject: Summer open face helmet on trial.   Thu Apr 23, 2015 4:19 am

Have been umming and arring about getting one to try this summer.

I know the jury is out on them, but had one in my scooter days. Thought that if I could find one I liked at the right price I would see how it went.

Nexx X70 Ace - Got it on ebay for £50 - new = £189
Been worn about three times [ lady with a piaggio scooter on the back of a motorhome ] she found it too big, but had already ordered the large visor as well but could not source the fittings to secure it. I found them with a German company online and it has cost me about £10 with postage. They are on their way.

Has a drop down inner sunvisor opererated by a lever on the bottom of the left cheek area.

Brown leather seems a good match for the Tenni scheme of things. Will see how we go. Viva la Fiesta

Will let you know how I get on.

I was looking at some Nexx helmets at a motorcycle show a year or two ago. They seemed to be very well made and embraced some of the more contemporary composites. Good lids I reckon.

This is my GRiSO helmet. Just thought it fit the nature of the bike.

I like the Shark helmets. They are not afraid to try different designs. Can see why you went for that, Cool

I like those Shark helmets too. How's the wind noise?

No trouble at all. Of course it relates to the recent thread on ear plugs, which I do wear. It fits well, comfy and looks pretty cool.
Got mine from Revzilla.

D'Oh! Of course, it's effectively an open face. Wind noise is assured. Where's the face-palm emoticon?

Only thing I'd say about Shark is their sizes are small. I have an XL and it only just fits me. I really like the fact the chin piece flips right back over and locks in place but when I have it with the chin piece in the 'lowered' position it can become uncomfortable on long rides.

I got the Nexx x70 similar to the one Blue has but in green  Very Happy , matches the Tenni pretty good. Very light weight and a nicely finished piece of kit..

Wanted to have an open face for the few sunny days that we get over here Exclamation

Really nice that. I looked at that version but it was hard to get one on the budget I had as I had already got the Nexx full face version in the Green.

Looks excellent Cool

I wonder who makes the Guzzi ones... I do like those but not the $400 price tag.
If they go down on price, I'll get one.
The NEXX and Shark once are good looking ones as well...

I use the Shark RAW too, love it. I get almost as much compliments on my helmet as I do on my bike.

I also like that they fit small, I have an ICON Alliance as well and it feels like a huge monstrosity on my head.

My only complaint is that the foam trim around my goggle is starting to peel off, nothing some glue won't fix but that's my only niggle...oh and the price too, its steep-ish.

My replacement for it will be the SHARK Vancore, same design but with a solid chin guard.

Very nice helmets guys!

CPB that almost looks like something out of a Star Wars flick.   Thumbs Up

The green open face echoes the Tenni scheme nicely too Guzzi Cat - sweet!

The brown leather and subtle color scheme on Blues is very classy to boot!

I've got a solid black AVG Grid with gold visor which I like very much on those sunny days. Quite comfortable with good noise suppression for the most part.

I just bought a Shark Evo One Flip-Back thing. Much better than regular flip-up helmets at speed, but also distinctly noisier than my old Schubert C2. As I always wear earplugs when riding, that doesn't pose a problem, though, and I no longer have to struggle to keep my eyes on the road instead of tree-tops at any speed over 30 kmh!
