Hello my name is Tim and I have the pleasure to announce I recently purchased a 2015 GRiSO 1200 SE 7 days and 3 hours ago cheers Very Happy ( haha yup drove it of the lot at 3pm ) The bike has been all I have dreamed and more! I think as far as position goes I might get different bars so I dont have to lean forward quite as much or I might just try rotating the bars a bit. All I done so far is moved my cortech tank bag from my Breva that I traded. I have cortech saddle bags but cant use them because the stock can is HUGE and the bag touches. I got a law abiding biker cell/gps mount ( fantastic quality!) and have a power outlet setup coming. I WANT to do an exhaust but I heard stories about NEEDING to do tuning/power commander before hand because of lean condition and id LIKE to keep my warranty intact.

Hello Tim;

welcome here in the ghetto.

Search here for your new exhaust. It´s a lot of information in this forum. Good luck with the new bike.

You definitely don't need a PC and while in the right hands and used properly they can be a useful tool the fact is that in many cases they aren't and can in fact be counter productive if not downright dangerous.

As a very successful alternative try reading up here on the Guzzidiag and mapping threads. A non-invasive, safe, reliable alternative to snake-oil and widgets!

Welcome to the Ghetto. There are many exhaust slip-on options. it's mostly a matter of look you prefer and sonic properties. Happy hunting!
BTW I'm considering this slip-on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Well if you are going to do your own first service you'll already have to get most of the tools you need to remap it so its worth giving it a try.

At first service I can pretty much gaurantee that the tappets will be too wide, both air bleeds on the throttle bodies will be open and the balance, both high and low speed will be off. To correct this you will need some sort of balancing tool, (Manometer, Mprgan Carbtune or the like.) and some way of re-calibrating the TPS and re-setting the trims. The cheapest way to do that is download Guzzidiag and purchasing the cables from Lonelec.

Whatever you do DO NOT try and alter the idle speed by playing with the throttle stop screw unless you want to end up in a world of hurt!

Welcome ! I love the clutch on the newer Grisos. Smooth as Charlize Theron's bottom, my 2009 SE's clutch is like the bottom of this.

I got mine at Seacoast last September. First 2015 GRiSO they had.

I was there a few weeks ago and they has 2 or 3 new ones in stock and a used Tenni Green one. The green one was gone last weekend.

I have never seen a Guzzi in the wild here in NH, only at the dealership.

Why? A W5AM equipped Guzzi is one of the simplest bikes to keep in tune. They really are a joy to work on. If you're a mechanic you'll already have most of the equipment you'll need. Only thing you may not have is a $50 beater lap-top if you've only been working on ancient machinery for a while.

The only reason I say that pete is because I only have done very minor carb work on a 84 interceptor. computer programming just makes me slightly nervous. I have been researching all the guzzidiag stuff I can find and it seems like you said very easy and straightforward

There really isn't any 'Programming' involved. The Programme has been built by Paul and Beard. Maps have been developed by a variety of people. Using the tuning software really is as simple as plugging in a cable and pushing a few buttons. Yes, if you have only ever worked on older machinery it may seem a bit daunting but really, compared to setting up carbs from scratch it really is child's play.

Thanks for the help Pete and your level of patience! I bought the cables and have a windows tablet coming to be used primarily as a mapping/diagnostic tool. Who in your opinion Pete gas a solid reliable map for a stock 1200? Oh quick question I was told by the dealer break in was 600 miles but the service manual i found pn guzzitech says just over 900 for break in?

Try Mark's work. I'm on holidays at the moment but if you send your email to 'Beetle' I'm sure something suitable will appear in your inbox shortly! Very Happy

Read up on how to tune your bike, while very simple the 8V is extremely picky about things being *Right*. Tappets at 6 thou inlet, 8 thou exhaust, TB's balanced high and low and at most only one air bleed open.
