Hmm not really inspirational, but......... what options are out there in terms of crash bars to protect the heads. To be honest to replace the head covers is probably cheaper than the bars, but if the head cover cracks I guess you loose the oil...

Has anyone dropped a GRiSO here? Whats the damage?

Mixed opinion on here and also other places......no surprises there.

Some say no to them as they may damage framework/plastics, or just do not like the look of them....period.
Some say go for Stucchi versions
Some like The Hepco and Becker versions

I personally went for the Hepco ones and I am happy [ they are well made and will take a light drop ] I also thought, well if i drop the bike in the drive or at the petrol station etc, etc, etc - then it would better for me.
My purchase was after being wiped out by a taxi [ took my front wheel away in a side swipe and did not stop......] Nice bloke. Damaged the right hand cover, but no major slide involved so was able to ride home.

Hepco looks like :

Stucci :

If you search both on here there are threads with pictures with both versions attached to owner bikes for an idea.

Cheers,
Blue.

Crashed my GRiSO doing some offroading. Handles it better than some dual sports i've seen. Definitely encouraging me towards knobbies....

Well, you asked...

Below is the result of a 40mph low-side, when i basically fell asleep at the switch. My problem immediate problem was that i was in the middle of nowhere and a holed head cover meant not rideable. Second problem was the head got filled with gravel.

I chose not to write off the bike and Moto International did their best to flush the dirt out after dropping the sump. Nevertheless, I still found some small rocks under the camshaft carrier during the roller tappet swap which i completed yesterday. The crash was 2 years ago!

I'm still running around w/o the head guards but then I'm an idiot in so many ways...

Hope you faired better than your GRiSO Egg. How many miles on your flat tappets? Did they start to fail?

Flat tappets failed @ 18,500 miles.

Caught it just in time because I heard an uncharacteristic tic on the left and went to adjust valves. One of the exhaust clearances was way off. I was fully in the thrall of magical thinking but Roper was able to knock sense into me when i aired the issue on this forum. A quick dismantle of the cam box confirmed my worst fears.

I was always plagued by mayonnaise and moisture in the engine. Search "Look of Mayonnaise" for pictures from earlier post. I went over the breather system with a fine tooth comb, this time. Lets see if it helps....
