I can't zero the trip meter or get any other alternative information out from the Computer, so either my finger doesn't work or more probably the magic button has reached the end of its' journey. Has to do with water because the same has happened earlier when riding in heavy rain and unfortunately it's been raining all summer. The button assembly seems to be a separate entity so I don't have to purchase the left hand switchgear alltogether.....I might as well open the button to see if it can be salvaged.

Sorry to tell you but you cannot purchase the button seperately, its part of the left hand switchgear.

You can dry it out and seal it up, i have had to do that with mine (i am on my third!)

They are supposed to be a sealed unit, but you can also take it apart and replace the switch, although it takes a bit of finding and the link i originally found to it has now gone :-(

Oh, the other option, which might help is to look a the RSV-4 Aprilia switch gear, which has a differnt arrangement for scrolling through the menu's (They are the same) and looks to be a better idea that then GRiSO.

I have not investigated it and it may not work, but if i have another problem that is my next area of research!

So, dismantling it is the next stage. Your info didn't come as a surprise, though, I suspected it would be like that. And have you ever seen Italian electrics that are genuinely waterproof?

I have a couple of them already dismantled, you have to chisel out the setting compound (waterproofing!) to get to the switch.

If you find a compatable switch again, please let me know :-)

I had a similar issue that magically cleared up and hasn't returned. I believe there's a thread somewhere in the Ghetto on this subject so try searching. If I recall, a possible replacement would be a 6x6x6mm momentary switch like these on eBay: CLICK HERE If too small you can try 8 or 10mm equivalents.

I use mine twice a year (time change) & no problem with it BUT guessing when it fails, apart from not being able to scroll and alter settings, you don't have a way to input code if ever required !.

Is it possible to strip out the mini-switch wiring so you can just fit and bury a separate microswitch out the way somewhere else for emergencies ? Or is that what you meant anyway with the switch link ?

Yes, i had considered putting a more robust switch on the handlebars.

If you only use yours once a year, then you can just touch the two bare wires togehter!!

I have no experience in this matter whatsoever, but would this (link) switch work?

If you can strip out the wiring anything will work - even morse code using bare wires as Keith says.
