Handlebar shims? Empty
PostSubject: Handlebar shims?   Handlebar shims? Icon_minitime1Fri Oct 02, 2015 6:21 am

I'm wanting a change my handlebars finally after a summer of being splayed across the tank and doing shoulder checks under my armpit, but i'm weighing my options. If I could I'd like to just shim a 7/8 bar for the size f our clamps. Anyone done this? I can't seem to find the proper 1 1/4 to 7/8 shims anywhere. Has everyone switched to a separate riser to run 7/8 bars? Is the stock bar clamp and switch sizes used on anything except the mana and tuono? For someone who has switched, is the 1200 bar that much better than the 1100 or is it minimal?

Hi SC
Cannot help with your shim question, but
25mm bar risers fixed my issues, this bought them up and towards me making things far more comfortable. More would be better but no more slack in cables/hyd lines.
Hope this sorts out for you, disappointed the initial design of the bike did not give more adjustment ability.
We need to be comfortable !!!

Thanks warden. Going to order a cheap set off eBay and see where that gets me. Might cut down my handlebar width as much as I can too. Were your risers the type that sit in the existing handlebar groove, or a chunk of aluminium that raises the entire handlebar clamp stalk?

Hi SC
Greetings from Tasmania
I went thru this issue a few months back
The Ferrachi ones were just to expensive for me so I searched elsewhere.
If you do a search on here with 'ordered a pair of these' and 'handlebar raisers' you will find discussion and some photos of my setup and issues.
The ones I have were a lot cheaper, around $20usd plus postage.
They look a bit crappy but I can live with that and I had to do a bit of filing to get them to fit.
But, they make my ride far more comfortable.
Hope you sort out your successfully.
Take care
Caoi
