EU legislation means that parts have to be available for ten years after the end of a model run I believe. There is a lot of parts communality in the 1200's, I don't think we'll have to worry for a while.

Shame Guzzi are no longer leading the design/pack. Instead a "me too" approach which may win them some new followers but the rest of us will hang on to what we have and be content - apart from the grumblings around a campfire - be it virtual or real.

A crying shame. Thanks Piaggio, fer nothin'

That´s true. Spare parts must be available for at least 10 years. Norge and Stelvio are still available. So let´s wait and see what will come next year at the INTERMOT Cologne. The watercooled engine must come in the future.

I don't think we'll ever see a water cooled production Guzzi. Water cooling isn't required to meet current Euro standards. Technically, the current big blocks are air/oil cooled. The arse-clowns at Piaggio won't cough up to retool for the traditional transverse V.

And the GRiSO Ghetto will be for those die hard old farts living in the past sticking to their 8V and who refuse to go down the modern path of flux capacitors and ...........................................

So this board will become like the Tonti loving WG crowd.
Its OK. I'm already there.

Meanwhile, I will be meeting with a designer/builder of a telelever centre hub steer front end.
Complete new frame designed around a Ducati engine.

If it is Guzzi adaptable I will have to buy the next GRiSO roller stat write-off at the auctions. Anything less has no cred with you mad bastards.

The end of the GRiSO is a shame but I was expecting it. I have a horrible feeling that all of the 1200's will follow shortly. It would appear that Piaggio has decided that the Guzzi name is only to be associated with motorcycles that will appeal to the deeply conservative. A crying shame.

Pete

This is so incredibly depressing.  To realise that my mighty GRiSO is considered old and redundant while those boring HD clones, like the Audace, and bikes that look like they were designed in 1975, like the V9, are considered hot is just sad.

Cool, I know it's 7 years in the US but wasn't sure what the deal was in the EU.

Hey, if the retro craze continues they will be making GRiSO's again in 2055.
Holy toledo Batman, I'll need to be riding at 98 years of age.

Looks to me to be a competitor to the new Triumphs.

Looks to me to be a competitor for the 'unthreatening, limp-wristed, couldn't-pull-the-skin-off-a-rice-pudding, but doesn't it match my lovely kale smoothie?' market.

Fuck Piaggio! How dare they?

The Roamer: A hipster classic. Available in a variety of bodily-fluid inspired colours, this easy cruiser *cough* (sorry, a little bit of vomit came up) with an astounding 55 horsepower will easily transport your beard and kimchi.

The Bobber: For fuckwits. This remarkable turd is Piaggio's gift to Moto Guzzi lovers who had hoped for Nuovo 8V Le Mans. Or even a new big block road-bike. Or a mid-sized Stelvio. Or even a small block road bike with modern suspension....

Did you read the blurb?

"Paying homage to the legendary Nevada." The fucking Nevada! A bike so ugly that not even crack-heads will steal one! Is it April the fucking first???

Tee hee. Some funny shit in the blurb : 'sculpturesque', 'built for excitement', 'essentiality of line' (WTF does that mean?), 'cosmopolitan custom'

I guess for daring yet stylish designs we will have to look at an other small European manufacturer: Husqvarna.  At least this (concept) bike is presented without bearded men in skinny jeans and lumberjacks, wearing open face helmets and vintage crocodile-leather gloves.

I fear the GRiSO will be the pinnacle from Guzzi for a bit, I hope she holds together until the replacement comes along....

I'm generally indifferent to it.  It's milquetoast; it'll blend in (and underperform) with most of the other standards..  Which is ok because I'm not the target demographic, anyway.  I don't think any of us in the Ghetto are.  If this is what Piaggio thinks is going to keep the brand alive, then go for it.  Maybe it will provide enough revenue to let them create a Son-of-GRiSO at a later date, who knows?

Luckily, I'm not in the market for a new bike (my beastie is only a '14) or I'd be looking hard at Aprilia Tuonos and Ducati Monsters.  Nothing in the '16 Guzzi lineup speaks to me.

If Guzzi decides to go all in on this type of bike, there'll be an MV Agusta in my future. I just hate the idea of owning a motorcycle that's a pain in the ass to maintain. The Guzzi's are just so shade tree mechanic friendly for maintenance.

Hopefully the GRiSO and Stelvio will last for a long time and that when the time comes to rebuild the motors, I can get the parts to do it.

And that X21 or whatever they call that bike, yikes!
Looks like you guys are right, Guzzi is going cruiser for the most part. Like they're isn't enough of that crap. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
I mean, how many versions of the Cali they make now? And it doesn't sell. LOL

Well, if I can't buy what I want, that's all the excuse I need to build it myself.

All I need is an 8V roller motor and drive train, the rest is just money .................. and any knob can make that.
