Iat evo sensor. Has anyone tried it?

Question in title? Seems interesting and wondering if it will really help with slow riding.

If it's a sensor fooler it's a piece of potentially dangerous nonsense. Don't waste our money or risk damage to your machine.

Can you send a link ?? - we've all got an IAT (Inlet Air Temperature) sensor already (it just doesn't have the word Evo on it - AFAIK, haven't looked yet); so it's either a part for a Mitsubishi/generic IAT replacement/temperature fooler as Pete says.

It's a fooler. It tells the ECU the intake air temperature is much lower than reality. I suspect it's designed to stop the ECU from going into closed loop mode with a stock map.

Maybe not. I've had a chat with the IAT Evo guy. It has a 12 degree C reduction over the stock sensor. In cooler weather, it might stop the ECU from going into Closed Loop mode. Otherwise, if the actual intake temperature goes up to 30 degrees, the ECU would start to trim around it, rendering it useless. I'm not sure the guy understands that. If it stops the ECU going into closed loop it will throw up a 'Service' error. I've seen it with other similar devices.

What I can't understand is WHY people keep chasing these ineffective, dangerous, devices when the ECU has been an open book for over a decade!

I expect this one won't. I've fiddled with both temperature sensor signals, and in this respect the 5AM is pretty basic. If the signal is valid, the ECU follows the logic. It's not a case of "stopping" the ECU from going into closed loop, the signal says it's too cold, so the logic says stay in open loop.

Ok, but when I experimented with both an AT resistor and a lambda resistor, (Separately.) they both threw a 'Service' warning after a few minutes. When the lambda event happened you could feel it drop into some sort of 'Limp' mode. Can't remember what happened with the AT device but it certainly threw the warning. This was w-a-y back in 2006/7 with my 1100 and I was really groping in the dark.

I wrote a response hypothesising why, but then deleted it. I'm replacing it with:

My theory is that people (aka idiots who don't know better) prefer to buy something 'solid' like a 'magic black box' that they can physically touch & connect to the bike, than to buy some re-arranged electron states in a piece of firmware that they can't 'see or touch'
