So you have just purchased a shiny new 2016 GRiSO.  In order to turn it into the perfect machine, what would you:

a. Modify/replace
b. Conduct preventive maintenance upon
c. Add

1. Make sure PD is done correctly.
2. Remove stock exhaust horror and install Arrow titanium headers, mid pipe and Mistral Hi-Pipe
3. Replace front calipers with Brembo M4 calipers with HH pads.
4. Replace brake master cylinder with a radial type
5. Replace clutch master cylinder with radial type
6. Install KD lowered pegs
7. Replace stock seat with Corbin gunfighter
8. Install bar end mirrors
9. Replace tyres with Michelin PR4's
10. Replace rear shock with high end aftermarket unit for Stelvio
11. Replace fork cartridges with Matris kit, and bring the forks up through the triple clamp
12. Reflash ECU with one of my maps.
13. Ride

At first service get the swingarm bearings and shock linkages greased. Get it Beetlemapped and then start spending money on suspension and brakes.

The stock pipe is heavy and ugly but works well but if you decide to go aftermarket as most of us have make sure that whatever you choose has a dBk killer and run it with it in. Like Mark I run the Mistral Hi-Pipe for the simple reason it's the one we've found that works best.

Avoid silly aftermarket air filters and modified air boxes. The only thing you will achieve with such nonsense is accelerated engine wear and higher fuel consumption. Avoid things like O2 sensor foolers and air temperature sensor foolers like the plague.

I've replaced some of them. The stock ones are made of cheese and over torqued by the gorilla the factory employs.


I forgot to add:

Mana bars
Fender eliminator
Onur's bar risers.

So far the things I've done that I'm very happy with:
1. Mistral carbon hi-pipe
2. Beetle roller map
3. Dart flyscreen
4. USA/Cali evap system delete
5. Fully clearbra'd all bodywork
6. Slightly modified fender eliminator
7. Cyclops H4 replacement LED bulb (review coming soon!)

Things I'd still like to do on my path towards "perfection":
1. Suspension mods. Probably just start with having the stock components reworked.
2. Upgrade front brakes
3. LED turn signals from watsen designs
4. Random bling-y bits and bobs
5. Maybe bar end mirriors? The GRiSO is already so wide...
6. Maybe try a different seat.
7. Try to absorb more of mark/pete's wisdom and generally not mess shit up
8. Front fender extender
9. Ride more!

I kept the stock seat and brown cover on the Tenni but had the foam reshaped underneath it for a stock looking but much more comfortable ride.

Much more to do. Those bars need to go, for a start. I'll avoid fiddling with exhauset/ engine/ maps for a while.

Which is a more capable bike, my new GRiSO or my old Blackbird? The Blackbird will piss all over the GRiSO for touring but is rubbish for going to the shops. Which will I keep? Obvious.

Hey, wind yer neck in Wink  I "get" my GRiSO too, that`s why I bought it. I like it the way it is and do not want to spoil it with tacky aftermarket shite. I aint bought it for going to the shops it`s a touring tool in my box. I have not put a single mile on it and only today vanned it 240miles to an "understanding dealer" who agrees with the consensus on this site that the engine will "Shite its breeks" and as far as he is concerned it has failed  (it has not). I had to politely approach 4 Piaggio dealers and tbqh they were not so forthcoming. If I thought for one minute i was going to be banging my heed off a wall I would not have bought it and secondly the negative stuff on here has not put me off (challenged me though) Manufacturers spend an arm and leg on design r+d and marketing, the Italians are in my book  the best so why would Billy Whizz know better? Any classic has to be original to realise its true potential. Some of the aftermarket offerings imho are "Tat" and my money would be better spent on another desirable ducati sports. Wink

Lastly, according to the Oz massiv short runs to the shops are what melt the chocolate flat tappets one WOULD be better off with the mighty Bird for that Smile Like you I "get" my GRiSO and like you I agree that one mans meat is another mans poison. Wink
