Hi All,

just recently joined this forum to do some research about modding options and discovered that you seem to be quite a nice bunch here. Other than most biker groups I stumbled upon you seem capable of openminded conversations which I greatly appreciate Very Happy

So far I did not mod my GRiSO at all and after a measly 25k kms in 5 years, I thought it might be time to make her my own. So at least she will be beautiful while standing in the garage Smile So first thing I did was to order the OEM Termi Pipe. Sadly they seem to have some delivery issues at the moment so it will probably take a while to be delivered.

In the meanwhile I am looking at minor things such as the oil-cooler cover and some nicer grips and levers. Oh and also the saddle really needs to get some love. Currently investigating whether I should go with a Corbin Gunfighter or the local saddler who could create the real custom look. I just fear that I may not be creative enough to make that custom look also a good look Very Happy

When I get things rolling I will post a few pics

Is it "rollerrized"?
If not, read about it here and address the issue.
My 09 flat tappets failed at 36K miles (over 50.000 km) but most fail well before that mark.
Doesn't matter, they WILL all go to crap eventually so don't wait too long...

Oh, and welcome to the crazy bunch. Very Happy

Thanks!

I am not quite sure what "rollerized" means. I had some issues last year where some valve kit replacement was done. If that's what you mean, then maybe she is. For that replacement the kit was provided free of charge by MG and I only had to pay the working hours. However, had some big trouble with the guy that did the job, took several months and he had to do it twice because he seems to have messed it up on the first try. Bike broke down during my first ride after the "repair". Sadly I am not well versed with such things, which is also why I never changed much and always have trust issues with the workshops. After having tried 2 MG authorized shops, next time I will go to any independent shop nearby. Can't get any worse than with the authorized ones. And in Germany the MG coverage is really bad.

Welcome, ye if MG provided a valve kit free of charge recently it would be the new roller tappet kit (rollerrized) and you should be ok, if the mechanic took the time to do all the things that he should have, such as dropping and cleaning out the sump and flushing the oil cooler if it needed it?
Nice looking bike, I find the larger MG screen to be a great addition to the bike and the termi pipe should be nice also. I don't really like the look of the after market oil cooler covers myself and I think that the original seat matches the tenni colour scheme good, but thats down to personal choice! I like the idea of radial leavers but expensive!
My bike came with a hugger painted in the tenni paint scheme and I'm not sure if it would look better without it but with the amount of crap weather we get over here it sure helps to keep the back shock clean.
Good luck with the mods, I look forward to seeing the pictures to see if I can borrow a few of your ideas  Very Happy when I can afford it!

Welcome to the Ghetto!! Very nice bike! I don't really see what is wrong with your seat (as I wish I had one of those nice brown seats), but I guess that is a matter of taste.

Ok Said,
Well your bike is rollerized...meaning it now has roller tappets instead of the original doomed flat ones.
You just had the misfortune to deal with an incompetent dealer in doing the swap but I understand that it's all good now.
You should be good for a long time.
Enjoy...

Thanks for all the nice welcomes Very Happy

I went through my papers to check what exactly was replaced and indeed it was the tappets and I should have the rollerized version now. Just beginning to realize what that whole story was all about Very Happy Never really cared much, because I thought I couldn't do much about it anyway.

Well the saddle definitely looks great, especially in combination with the green, but my back does not care. Even though I have to refuel every 2-3 hours, my back is in pain at latest after the first refill. But no worries, I intend to keep the color more or less the same. Maybe a bit lighter and also rougher leather. Not sure yet. For sure it needs to be harder to accommodate my precious butt more comfortably over longer rides.

If you're spending money on farkles for looks but get a sore back, consider a new shock absorber for a much smoother ride.

What are farkles? And aren't the absorbers adjustable?

Yes, the stock suspension is adjustable but it's under sprung and over damped. The rear is particularly inadequate.

Hmm ok Pete, so you are saying that the absorber is set to soft? Damn, each time I check the forum I have to add a new todo to my list Very Happy

Thanks for the feedback!

No, I'm saying it is under sprung and over damped. You can't *adjust* the spring rate, only replace the spring. As for the damping you can use a lighter oil but the Sachs shock isn't a very subtle beast.

Hey Pete,

I did some reading on the suspension topic and think that some of it actually trickled through to my consciousness Very Happy All the tech talk is just not everyday english for me. Anyway, the shock and spring will have to wait until I have a better understanding on what exactly to improve. Streets around here are mostly ok so it's not a pressing issue.
