When I think of the character GRiSO in the Manzoni novel, Léon in The Professional always comes to mind...
Except that GRiSO had no redeeming characteristics at all.

Don't get all crooked now...  An excerpt from Manzoni's I Promessi Sposi, Chapter 20

Alessandro Manzoni wrote:
At the sound of a party approaching on horseback, an ill-looking lad appeared at the doorway, well armed with knives and pistols, and after giving a glance at them, re-entered to inform three ruffians, who, seated at table, were playing with a very dirty pack of cards, reversed and laid one upon another like so many tiles. He who seemed to be the leader rose, and advancing towards the door, recognized a friend of his master’s, and saluted him with a bow. Don Rodrigo, returning the salutation with great politeness, inquired if his master were in the castle, and receiving for an answer that he believed so, he dismounted from his horse, throwing the reins to Tiradritto, one of his retinue. Then, taking his musket from his shoulder, he handed it to Montanarolo, as if to disencumber himself of a useless weight, and render his ascent easier; but in reality, because he knew well enough that no one was permitted to mount that steep who carried a gun. Then taking out of his purse two or three berlinghe, he gave them to Tanabuso, saying: ‘Wait for me here; and in the mean time enjoy yourselves with these good people.’ He then presented the estimable chief of the party with a few gold coins, one half for himself, and the rest to be divided among his companions; and at length, in company with GRiSO, who had also laid aside his weapons, began to ascend the cliff on foot. In the mean while, the three above-mentioned bravoes, together with their fourth companion, Squinternotto, (what amiable names to be preserved with so much care!) remained behind with the three players, and the unfortunate boy, who was training for the gallows, to game, drink, and relate by turns their various feats of prowess.

There will be more designs forthcoming.  I was thinking about simply uploading several graphics to Cafe Press where folks could print on demand - t-shirts, mugs, flasks, and even some throw pillows for you Australians...

Yeah yeah, us girlie-swot Australians causing trouble.

I was thinking something a little less full-on. Not interested in gun-toting Frenchmen and a reference to a film I've never seen and likely won't.

You want to get the Bruce Penman translation, available from several vendors.  You might want to check your local library as well.  It's a long read, but thoroughly enjoyable.

It's a fictional story, but firmly rooted in Italian history during the time of Spanish control of much of Italy.  GRiSO is a relatively minor character in the story, a particularly treacherous henchman of the corrupt nobleman Don Rodrigo, the primary antagonist.  The story takes place entirely within the region surrounding Lake Como from Milan to Monza, to Bergamo to Lecco and points in between.

Love the movie, the shirt -- not so much. But I'd be down for a simpler option, maybe just the name GRiSO Ghetto in some nice typography. Would be a good conversation starter, like the bike.

A few years ago Jon Margrave had some great shirts made. Plain black with the simple logo

GRiSO. Ride more. Pose less.

Mine eventually fell to bits Very Happy

Nah, Steve, I think that its also partly cultural. We simply don't *Do* the gun thing over here. The symolism is to a great degree lost to us.

It's not a gun, it's the iconic GRiSO exhaust...   A creative exercise incorporating the GRiSO character with design elements of the bike.  At any rate, the sensitivity is not lost on me, no t-shirt required for membership in the forum.  My feelings aren't hurt, and no offense was intended.

THIS WILL NOT DEVOLVE INTO A POLITICAL DISCUSSION  I'm NOT promoting "gun culture" so no need to take a stand on either side.

At any rate, I've no plans to print a run of shirts.  Instead, I'm thinking of uploading several designs on a GRiSOghetto account with Cafe Press.  Folks can pick and choose ala carte - t-shirt, mug, water bottle or whatever.  A pay as you go deal with Cafe Press or someplace similar.

I'm certainly open to anyone else's ideas or designs just send them over to me.  I've got a few more ideas that I am working on.  They won't all be so tongue-in-cheek.

I wasn't suggesting you were Steve! Misunderstanding that's all. My intention certainly wasn't to try and make anything 'Political'. It was simply an attempted explanation. Obviously it backfired. My apologies.

Great job Steve. The movie was one of my favorites. The moment I saw the "gun" I knew it was a take on the GRiSO OEM exhaust. How could one not see it.

I've got a few more designs in the queue and will unveil them with a link to a vendor for print on demand of any number of items.  Cafe Press is a bit on the expensive side as they were the first/biggest into this business model.  I've looked at several other vendors and have all but settled on one in particular.  Have any of you had any experience, good or bad, with any of these on-demand outfits?  I'm gravitating to those that offer local production/distribution ex-USA since we are an international forum.

GRiSO schwag, there is never too much...
