Painting a GRiSO Empty
PostSubject: Painting a GRiSO   Painting a GRiSO Icon_minitime1Fri Jun 14, 2019 6:58 am

Has anyone had a GRiSO professionally painted? I have a race livery scheme in mind but am curious about any issues anyone else has run into. Mine only has 600 miles on it (2016, don't laugh, just got it) but the one thing that's never resonated with me is the dull red/black scheme.

Looks like it will disassemble pretty easily, looking only for the tank, fenders, side vents, perhaps the fork legs and perhaps the swingarm but I'd probably have that left on and masked off completely, not sure.

Just curious what was a cost, labor involved, how much did you do yourself, was the tank sanded lightly or blasted to get all the old paint off, etc, etc.

This would be a professional job, not rattle can. Thanks.

Bring it to my place and we'll wrap it.

Yeah. Wrap it. My GRiSO is wrapped.

I'm curious, is there a template for the wrap?

There wouldn’t be, the wrap will require some stretching here and there. This isn’t a product like that clear protection film. It comes on rolls. The general procedure is to cut off a blob way bigger than you need, wrap, and trim off the excess.
The contours of the GRiSO would be a fairly easy task except along the very sides of the tank and the key well where the ignition is.

You need to remove the grills from the 'wings' and tailpiece. That's a fun job.
