Yeah, I'd prefer something other than silver but I can't be arsed to strip it out completely. If you want to do it though the time would be when we slip the 1400 into your bike as by the time you've pulled the motive unit you're half way there.

It requires stripping it to do it right. Anything else is butchery!

Can't wait to see it in the flesh. Heather still doesn't know I'm getting it repainted. Maybe I should get the camera out just for her reaction. Thanks for all your hard work Pete. And yes I know, you said you were going to rape my wallet.

I honestly think you will be surprised by the cost. Compared to buying a brand new GRiSO you'll be saving, at my 'Guestimate' $7.5-9,000.

But, apart from being mechanically refurbished you get top of the range suspension and a unique paint job. Also, if you give a shit about such things, you have contributed greatly to the archive of knowledge of what makes an 8V tick, what wears, what doesn't, and what to look out for.

At the end of the day, after forty years in production most of the foibles of the old 2V motor and earlier, Tonti, chassis have been well documented. The 8V has only been around for nine or so and because of the way the *Motorcycling* community has changed high mileages and *Regular* use are for the most part a thing of the past.

For the vast majority of current riders a bike is a toy. I'm not criticising that! How lucky are we to have the opportunity to have such toys? But as such it is often taken almost as a given that a bike is virtually *Disposable*. Lots of the Corn Cob Pipe Brigade love to crap on about how the newer bikes are disposable junk that will wear out in no time. The great thing is that doing this 'Refresh' of yours proves that that theory is crap. Sure there is wear, and yes there is more on some parts than there might be on an old 2V but fuck me! It's producing more than twice the HP and torque of the first Guzzi V7 and the bits that are worn most, the valves, have a far more punishing time than the *Old* bikes.

I was astonished when the 8V was first released. For the first time in literally decades the factory had a truly competitive package they worked like a half way modern motorbike! I love the 8V 1200 CARC bikes, they have become my muse! I just hope that we haven't seen the end of such inovation from The Guzzi name. I'm not holding my breath but.......

Very nice indeed ... well done rebuilds in my opinion are better than new , they are sorted and massaged into what should have come from factory in the first place cheers

I fully agree with the butchery with anything else but stripping. But on the other hand You seem not to suffer enough from the actual colour.  Razz Laughing

Harry, you should see the rest of the goodies. Matris fork catridges and Matris rear shock, Grimeca racing discs, Dart Marlin screen, and it's going to get a new seat courtesy of MJM in Goulburn, as well as the paint job. Now you can understand why I'm so eager to get it back. Pete's done a terrific job...again.

According to Pete, red paint gives you at least 10 more ponies LOL.
I got my discs from the same place as you Beetle thanks to you link. I just hope it's not pink unicorns I see, or wallopers in dark blue.
