PostSubject: CARC Models?   Sat Jun 11, 2016 6:53 am

I'm always at the end of the line it seems. When it comes to change I resist like a boulder in a river.

I bought the Grizz my first CARC bike & now I'm just plain out eatin up with it. I WANT MORE so of course they are being discontinued.

What year did the CARC bikes start?

How many different models used CARC?

Besides GRiSO what is your favorite model/year?

Don't know if the bank account or marriage can hold up to this new addiction......

First launched in 2005 with Breva and GRiSO 1100's they were followed in 2007 by the 2VPC 1200 Norge and 1200 Sport. 2008 saw the introduction of the 8V motor in the GRiSO followed a year later by the Stelvio. The 2V motor soldiered on briefly with its last iteration being in the Bellagio launched the same year, (From memory?). 2010 saw the Norge get the 8V treatment and at the end of that year the 1200 Sport was also 8V'd.

Flat tappets in the 8V continued until mid 2012 when all were converted to rollers except the 1200 Sport which by then had ceased production but old stock continued to be sold plated as 'New' model years right up until 2015.

As for 'Favourites'? My 8V GRiSO is by far the best motorbike I've ever owned, despite eating its first motor. Of the '2V' models the Bellagio remains the sweetest BB engine Guzzi ever built.

Thanks Pete.

Well in the USofA the Bellagio is a no go, I sure would like to ride one.

The 1200 Sport is what I'll be looking for or another GRiSO I'm not really into the Norge or Stelvio.

Am I correct that the 2v 1200 DID NOT have tappet issues?

I gotta agree with you on the Grizz freakin amazing bike.

Red Dog, my Bellagio was built in Dec 2007 and a ride is only an airplane ticket away. Very Happy

If you ever import one (under the radar), just change the stickers on the side covers to "Cali Stone".

Always wanted to visit OZ & the wife might like it too.

FRIG! You would have to plant that idea in my head.

Heard about a guy who mailed a Harley home from Europe one piece at a time during WWII.

Hell I rode my old T for about 8 years with a tag off a T3, I figured that "they" wouldn't know the difference any way besides they never check the VIN on a road stop. So maybe it could be a Jackal mmmmmm.

None of the two valve per cylinder models have any top end issues. Only notable problem was with a small batch of Norges, (all red as far as I can make out.) which got a batch of bad oil pumps very early in their manufacture run. Bill Hagan was unlucky enough to score one of these.

If you're interested in a 1200 Sport?

Saw it on Wildguzzi and thought it looked like a great touring rig. Dunno if you're near Reno? Or you could fly and ride it home.

Pete

PS. Sorry, just saw you're in Florida. Fly up, ride to National in John Day, ride home!

That bike with the GRiSO spoked wheels would be sexy as hell.

With it's stretched out ergos, luggage capacity, range and wind protection, the Stelvio is an outstanding touring bike.

I've put 14K miles on it in the year I've had mine.

That's because they don't have any top end :-)
