It's a boot remover. Really, not kidding. You put them by the door of the house on farms etc. so when muddy booted labouring types want to enter and have to remove their gum boots or ES boots you stick the heel of one boot between the 'Antennae' while bracing the other foot on the 'Carapace' and hoick yer foot out. Remove boot from tool and set aside, repeat with other foot!

They used to be very common. With increasing urbanisation their popularity has waned. Needless to say they don't have to be arthropods, although they usually have a bestial theme. My aunt used to have one that was a boar's head and used the tusks to clasp the boot heel. Very Happy
