| (Split off from the Clutch Smoothness thread in the Tech section...) I love the 1100 GRiSO. I just got a wild hair last year and bought the 1200 Diavolo Nero. I wanted something that would better match my helmet... I like the AGV with the Italian colors like yours. Just checking have you had agv before?, if not check fit carefully, they seem to be odd sized and for folks with very narrow jaws. Arai Italian flag RX-q is also avail and the rxq is a really amazing lid, for intermediate oval heads, and they have any cheek pad ya could ever need [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Exactly. I am a chinless wonder with a roundish shaped melon and the AGV fits me perfectly.

Yeah, I had nothing but AGV back in Europe. I had a Bell when I first bought my first GRiSO and it was terrible... loud and not very comfy. So I went back to AGV. That Arai you showed us sure is a good looking one.

| Suomy has their new 2014 line out right now and it seems like they have re-badged the Spec 1R/Extreme as the new Apex line and dropped the prices about $150. These are very nice helmets, super light and both ECE and DOT certified, and made in Italia! They're known for their elaborate graphics, but solids are available in every model as well. I'm kind of fond of the La Cocca... Especially if I were riding a gorgeous, white GRiSO.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The top of the line SR Sport is pretty sweet too. Priced attractively relative to other premium level helmets as well at just under $500. The Racing Red, Blue, or Green would look sweet atop a Diavolo Nero too. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I've had about six different Suomy helmets over the last eight years or so and have always been impressed with the fit and finish. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]2012 MOTO GUZZI GRiSO 1200SE2013 MOTO GUZZI STELVIO 1200NTX - Orange Blossom Special | |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] My wife (the actual GRiSO owner) just got that same helmet and loves it. It's really quite beautiful in the flesh.

| This new offering, the Raw Soyouz, from Shark was just reviewed by Webbikeworld. Scored good and bad, but I have to admit, it looks odd enough that I kind of like it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]But then again, I like the looks of those goofy ROOF helmets too. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]2012 MOTO GUZZI GRiSO 1200SE2013 MOTO GUZZI STELVIO 1200NTX - Orange Blossom Special

| Ever since I put the MRA speed screen on the GRiSO my Suomy helmet has become so loud it's unbearable. And yes I wear ear plugs, have for many years. I have Tinnitus so I am acutely aware of the problem. Probably doesn't help that I am at the shooting range at least once a week either, but I ain't give'n that up anytime soon. I did some research on the quietest helmet available and outside of the Schubert line only the Shoei rf1200 gets much ink. I also have a Vemar Jenaro helmet that I bought a couple of years ago when I had my Tiger 800. It's my first modular and I wore it on the GRiSO last week, it was surprising quiet but it is heavy and I really don't like the look of the modular helmets. My last 5 bikes have all been sport or sport tourers or dual sport types with a fairing or some type windshield. Consequently the Suomys' were reasonably quiet. I think that riding with out a windscreen would be quieter as the size of the screen, at least the MRA speed screen, channels the dirty air right at my shoulders and sound is pushed directly into my helmet. I can get a base (white) Shoei rf1200 for about $430 and change, pretty good price. It's Summer here in Arizona so I won't be riding as much so I may continue to do more research. Any input is from the board appreciated. | |
