I was at the local COSTCO today here in Seattle and they had a beautiful new display set up for the sale of numerous Belgian styled beers from around the world and even here locally.

It was a very nice selection:

So I brought home a nice quartet with one of my favorites, the Tripel Karmeliet, as a benchmark.  I've also drank the Fin du Monde from Unibroue many times, but this will be the first for the Monk's Uncle from Pike Place Brewing here in Seattle, and the New World Belgian Tripel from Sam Adams in Boston.  Yummm.

La Fin du Monde quickly became one of my favorites, which is saying something - as a loyal Albertan I am required to hate everything french

Well it may sound French, but it is Flemish inspired, even if it comes from Quebecers...

And since all Canadians are loved the world over, a Quebecer is almost imperceptibly less friendly in comparison.

How bad can a Province be, that claims the perpetually smiling Bon Homme???

Psssst, there's Guzzi content there.  Omobono (Tenni) is the Italian version of Bon Homme, how cool is that?!?!

Trust me dude, they're evil...  Drink their beer, eat the meat pie, enjoy the maple syrup, but never turn your back on them. He is smiling because he just ate a small child...

Duvel and Chimay (blue label) are awesome.
Then a really cold Hogaarden (white beer) is out of this world too...

Not that I drink anymore but I preferred my beers bitter.
I'm such a sweet guy I suffer sugar shock if I drink Belgian ales.

Roger that GRiSOnut, all great options. While not an everyday beer, the Kriek Lambic (or any of the fruit Lambics) are really interesting beers. Have you ever tried a Gueuze? It's a Lambic without the sweet fruit added. To me, it smells like Granny Smith apple peels, but there is no sweetness, more tangy or sour. Weird stuff, out of the ordinary, but worth trying sometime.

There are so many great ales from Belgium - Kwak, Maredsous, and Duchesse de Bourgogne are three more of my favorites. I love bitter beers too, but these big flavored Belgians really are a treat. I'm glad to see more and more of the stateside craft brewers adding more Belgian styled ales into their repertoire.

Yep, tried them all... Gueuze etc... all good stuff.
If you ever go to Belgium, let me know and I will tell you where to get hammered on beer.
Blanche de Bruxelles (white beer), Moinette (blond comes in 75cl bottle 8.5% vol) these are only local ones I believe since they don't make enough volume for export.
A French beer for fun... Jenlain (6.5% vol). Never saw it in the US and that's too bad.
Maybe Dean&Deluca carry it...

Hi,

this is a topic for my taste...  drunken
If I could sale the south of the Netherlands to Belgium... Oh please...
There is only one country where they can brew real beer! Real beer!
The Chimay Bleu, Rochefort, Val Dieu, Oer bier, Westmalle tripel, Brugse tripel, Carolus...  Viva la Fiesta
Why do you think I have to loose nearly 10 Kg weight???
Such a photo are nearly the most pleasant ones to make on a holiday...
We have a lot of them...:

There is a part of the day, you love and ride your Guzzi...
And there is an other part of the day to enjoy a different side of life...  cheers

Well, that's what I do Sir...
After each ride (weekends), a cold Belgian beer is the only way for me to close the Guzzi chapter.
And I forgot about the Carolus... A friend of mine was hooked on it when he wasn't sipping a Mort Subite (Sudden Death).
