I just bought "Moto Guzzi: The Complete Story (Crowood Motoclassics)" Kindle Edition by Greg Pullen  for $11.93 AUD, which is a little more affordable Smile

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

It's in Amazon DRM'd EPUB form which I read on my Android tablet using the free Kindle App for Android. .

What fascinating reading  (with pics)!

I was (am?) utterly clueless re MG history as I bought my GRiSO on design only and had no idea about their incredibly rich history including their racing days.

MG is truly a legend, and as the legend didn't end with DeTomaso, perhaps it won't end with Piagio either ?

This book is out of print, if you want one, shop ABE books. After reading this post I bought a used copy for sixty five bucks. (original list price new, $79.00)
ABE lists books from dealers across the globe and is my go-to source for used , hard to find books.
Often you will find the exact same book as listed on Amazon for less.

I really enjoyed the ebook, but found the GRiSO 8v flat tappet problem description a little worrying. The author started that according to the main English Guzzi Dealer, the tappet problems were all fixed now, even tho the cause was never understood, with with some bikes "getting a larger oil cooler".
Nowhere was the roller tappet conversion solution mentioned (that I could see).

When was the info garnered? It may of predates rollers. Never heard of larger oil coolers and that would only be a *Sollution* if the problem was heat related which it isn't. If anything the opposite is true!

The e-book first published in 2014
The Crowood Press Ltd
Ramsbury, Marlborough
Wiltshire SN8 2HR

Copyright Greg Pullen 2013
ISBN 978 1 84797 577 5

The author is quoting 'Paul Harris of Corsa Italiana near Walton-on Thames, The UK's largest MG dealer'. (date not given but he mentions the Cali 1400).

In the article the author states 'The issue with the 8v head is absolutely sorted' affirms Paul, 'everything was recalled and some bikes even got a new oil pump and bigger oil cooler. It might have been component suppliers dropping standards: all I know is we were told to do the work and we did it. I'm not aware of anyone having any problems anymore'.

Given the publishing date I'd guess that the authorship was at least a couple of years easier. At that point I too was still in denial. Until you've seen the endless shitstorm first hand it's hard to actually believe it's as bad as it is.

At the back of mine it says "Printed by LEB Castelli Bolis Bergamo, Italy. May 2007"
It's the English version of course...

Predates rollers by a long way then unless there were revised additions.

So, it looks like they are asking for a ludicrous price for an 'older', 'obsolete content' book ....
Hope the pickies are good .......
Wonder if there will be an amended, reasonably priced version on the way ?
Have a safe week
