PostSubject: BMW GRiSO...........:-P   Mon Apr 14, 2014 4:47 pm

PS  Saw not one but 3 BMW Grisos this weekend (they were together imagine that).....it is really rare that a bike looks much worse in person than in the press photos.   These things just looked wrong from every angle in person.....like most every time germans try to copy italian design.

Reminds me of what happend when Toyota and Honda tried to do Triumph, or Jaguar.

I really expect this model to go down as hard as the Montauk  scratch, It does look like they were using up some old parts from the montauk though. tongue

even coke only tried new coke once.....but I am not a marketing genius

PostSubject: Got a chnce to ride a R9-T......or the update   Tue Apr 22, 2014 6:39 am

Ok I will ride anything, and the NEW BMW dealer in our area who has been a yamahamster rep for a long time (of really questionable cred) was fool enough to let me ride the teutonic GRiSO and the new even uglyier and bigger Wunderturd (if that is possible) R1200 R

Thanks guys for the attempt at a standard again....but I guess they actually succeeded in a way... both bikes were as exciting to ride as a Toaster oven...which is what a BMW should be but man these 2 were pounded with an ugly stick.

The r 1200 r was really the worst...here is the plan take a RT and uncover everything, then plaster with just enough g-strings to cover the most offensive bits, go back to the beer hall call it done....

The R9T they at least spent friday afternoon looking at a copy of Italian Vogue when the did the G strings (and then added a short cocktail number they found laying around)

Funny how the germans can take a stab at a hooligan "type" bike, and wind up with a bike that is as exciting to ride as a honda rebel (ok less but I could not think of anything less exciting maybe a kawasaki eliminator).

My review summery:
pros: neither broke down on their 50 mi test rides, both fairly smooth, both predictable, some front end feel to the r9t
Cons: Boring, Boring, R1200r front end had the feel of a guy missing both hands, did I say Boring, R1200R having to look at it in the Garage

Maybe it was just a comparo I had just spent some time on a Shiver (which is very nice)

Well I've been at a BMW store recent and first time looked in flesh at the 9t, what I didn't realized from the pictures, is how tiny the bike looks and also feels when you sit on it. A bit of the monster 900 from 20 years ago. I think it could be a hit for BMW.

I was talking to a cool stranger at Newcombs a few weeks ago after he started complimenting my GRiSO.
I mentioned that BMW is introducing a GRiSO clone and that I thought it was USELESS seeing how BMW had a model called the Rockster several years back that filled the bill SO MUCH BETTER.

The gent I was talking to said "Yeah!!!"
He then told me that he owns a Rockster.

Great minds think alike. Smile

It is going to sell like crazy. I stopped by my local BMW dealer (Ventura County BMW) to see if they had any. They had 6, all pre sold. They will not have any more until the end of May.

From the photos, I like it.

Hi,

this BMW is called the Nine T in Europe.
I took a seat on that bike, it's certainly NOT a GRiSO.
It's "just" another beautiful naked bike but still stays a BMW.  No
With all the pros and cons BMW has...
It's a complete motorbike quite nice things on it.
It will ride nice and shiney, I think.
But...
You won't feel it... clown
You won't hear it... clown
And than you'll see the bike has no real charisma!! scratch
It's odd that it doesn't have the newest engine.

No, no replacement for my GRiSO  I love you

There is an introduction mobie with a number of old airhaeds that are made to look like the inspiration. I've never seen such airheads live. The only customised airheads I see here are rat bikes. Now I think of it here two airheads I've seen years ago in france, they look like the real 9T

The GRiSO is all about looks with an intoxicating engine, that's why I own one. lol
Any angle you look at it, it's spot on.

The 9T isn't an ugly bike IMO but the boxer mill while bullet proof is just plain ugly (always was), that's why they call it a toaster.
So that fucks up the looks and that's a shame cause there isn't much you can do to it.
Then there's the sound... no score there either.

Besides all that, I think the 9T is still a cool bike...

To me, it looks like a poor cousin to the original V11 Sport.  Except it's not as pretty as the V11 Sport, and it definitely doesn't have the sound.

They're late to the dance. It won't be as good as a Monster. Or a Brutale or Rivale, or Tuono V4R, or a GRiSO.

They'll still sell a boatload of them to the minions.

Seriously, can you imagine this same picture with that BMW in it? Yeah, me neither.  Laughing Laughing Laughing

I finally saw a R9T in the flesh this weekend at the Annual Gathering of the Nortons. I like it. I don't think that I would buy it, but I like it.

I'm going to have to stop reading this thread. Everytime I scroll down, I get stuck looking longingly at the pic of the V11 that WCB posted. After a while I realize there's a bike in the pic.

So.
I happened to see a TV commercial for this BMW.
And for some strange reason it looked pretty good. On TV.
What happened to me?

Then I got annoyed.
Why am I looking at a BMW when I should be seeing a GRiSO on TV?!?!?
Yeah!!
Guzzi needs to run TV ads. Yeah.

Sometimes BMW make bikes that look interesting or even offer some promise.
Then I ride one and all the boxers feel the same, poofy!
And they sound like an asthmatic cow with acute diarrhoea.

To be fair i have only ridden a R90s 74 and a K1 two completely different models from BMW ,,
both IMO were boring awkward motorcycles i would like to think that they can do better..
