Carc weep.... Empty
PostSubject: Carc weep....   Carc weep.... Icon_minitime1Sat May 10, 2014 12:54 pm

Just a quick ?, Is there a way to keep the Carc final from weeping along the parting line? I have just accepted this as a "special Feature" of the design as all four of the Carc bikes I have had all did it.

Been just cleaning but it soiled a set of brake pads on one bike and would like to at least slow it down.

Any suggestions Pete?

Firstly fuck the shitty breather off. Either make up something like mine, (I'll find pics later.) or simply run a line from a banjo up the top of the swingarm and up under the tank somewhere. Quite often weeps are from the breather not the seam. The other obvious place is the top bellows around the reaction rod. If you think its coming from there piss off weird crush-clamp and get a L-O-N-G clamp as used on car CV boots. Double it up around the boot and use a CV clamp tool to pull it down good and tight.

In all honesty I haven't has a CARC that weeps along the seam. Its always been the bellows or the breather. I've rebuilt quite a few now and use Threebond 1211 on the mating surfaces and have never has a weep. They are seemingly well machined and have a host of bolts to clamp them together.

Pete

I have it stopped on the Stella and am running the long tube on the breather, the others I have been flat lazy and not replaced the factory breather...I kind of figured it was misting from there...just did not fix it with the tube as I have been lazy and not had any issue with water intrusion, I have the parts to make 9 more kits of my Stelvio breather sitting here so I guess I'll just fix it.

I guess it took the soiled brake pads to get me off my ass on this one...at least I have a source for them at $30 a set those damn pirates at Piaggio want $130usd for the same Brembo factory pads...I would have bought them from my dealer but....holy friggin hell they quoted me $435 for oem brembo pads all around. Ilike to buy stuff from them but $435 vs $160 from Brembo in Ca, for the exact same pads....bugger me with a fish fork. Mad

I do support my locals had my local indy do my new tires today, even though I could have done them here...but sometimes I just can't
