Do these come with special hardware ? How do they attach?

The better question is "how do they un-attach..."

Well yes...

I figured it out, they will be unattaching shortly.

I have the H+B head guards on my bike currently, and was just bemusing that the bike would look far better without them when I came across this post..

I bought them to prevent any damage to the heads in a simple parking lot or driveway tip-over scenario, but I keep seeing people recomend against them. Is the general consensus that they do more harm than good?

Since my recent (and to my count 5th) get-off, I have been thinking seriously about crash bars. I think this is the third rear brake pedal/lever I've had to replace. I've got three sets of the very expensive valve covers (not the cheap ones like you have Steak) which I keep recycling/repairing. I've also done one gear lever, multiple mirrors and several clutch/brake levers. Not to mention rashes on my CARC and oil cooler cover (which now has gouges). I've been lucky so far as to not render the bike unrideable. I know there will be a next time, and if I hole a valve cover I'll be stuck.

It's a shame the newer guzzi engine's don't seem able to mount the simple guards on the head like the old ones could. That seemed the simplest, best looking, and most effective option.

This has been discussed quite a bit. The upshot seems to be that they are worthwhile on the G12's but not so much on the G11's, which have neat plastic skid blocks on their heads.
