PostSubject: Moto Guzzi Sport 1200 2V   Mon Dec 15, 2014 2:20 pm

I was doing some reading up on a Sport 1200 2V as a neighbour in the street has just bought one with a 2 into 2 exhaust

MG 1200 Sport article

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

In the article there are options for the Sport

Racing Kit
Moto Guzzi is also releasing a Two-Stage tuning kit for the 1200 Sport:

Stage 1

1. Dedicated velocity stacks
2. Complete 2in2 exhaust system
3. Racing ECU

Stage 2

1. Polished ports on racing high-compression heads kit.
2. Dedicated velocity stacks
3. Complete 2in2 exhaust system
4. Racing ECU

Racing ECU or mapped?
The 2 into 2 exhaust ?  Looks good and also sounds good...

Only the Stage 1 kit was ever released, which was a tad pricey at over $2k. I looked at it - it sounds awesome - but budgetary constraints said no. I have a mate in QLD with the kit fitted and I wanted to do a back to back test with mine at the last Ruptured Budgie Rally but I had to leave early for work so it never happened.

I have been doing a fair bit of work with Mr Beetle to get a 2V map that is simply awesome and we should be done this week. My only concession is a GuzziTech Reverse Cone Megaphone and a (well many actually) well sorted map from Mr Beetle. I think it might well trump the Stage 1 kit, but will need a comparison - perhaps your neighbour is willing sometime? Otherwise I will wait till May in QLD at the Budgie, before we start drinking.

Interestingly the Stage 3 kit was also touted at some stage, which had the pistons upped in compression and maybe some more headwork and a different cam. Light of day was never seen by the two latter stages. Pete is this correct, or am I talking shit again?

Annoyingly, JSG was giving away the Stage 1 Kit at one stage as all the original exhausts were breaking multiple times. I had mine replaced and 2 weeks later they started issuing this kit as a warranty replacement. BIG BUMMER! I believe the ECU was pretty tame in its difference to the original 1200 Sport map. Beetle might comment on that?

Tony, I swear I've compared the two and, IIRC, there was little difference.

Tony, If you are hankering to try one with the stage one kit there is a 1200 early 4V Sport for sale at Worthingtons BMW at Kariong near Gosford which has it fitted. I am sure if you turned up in a car and made noises about it they would give you a test ride. It is at the top of the Old Pacific Highway so plenty of curves close to play with (and Rozzers).

Nah, Gregg, reckon I'll wait for the Budgie - better bragging rights there... Embarassed
