PostSubject: EXIT GRiSO   Sun Jan 11, 2015 5:04 am

Today I rode the GRiSO for the last time.
In less than 12 hours I will have surgery for a large arterial aneurysm (about the size of a computer mouse) behind my left knee joint.
Funny, I thought the bulge was something simple easily fixed with no long lasting effect like a hernia. Dickhead me.

The professor who will perform the operation said "No bending of your leg more than 90 degrees again, ever. Sorry."
No ifs, no buts, no maybes.

This photo taken Friday. Yes, it was slightly uncomfortable to ride.
An hour later I was strapped into a flexion/extension brace set at 90 degrees. Had this from a knee reconstruction back in 2006.
No, the leg doesn't even come close to getting on the footpeg when fitted with the brace. Bugger.

Don't want sympathy, commiserations or any of that shit.
Wanted to explain why I won't be here. Thanks.
Caio.

Bit of surgery on the bike and we can have you a set of forward controls.
Sacrilege to the uninitiated I know, but better than an orphaned GRiSO.

Good luck my friend.

Lordy.

You are handling this way more maturely than I might.

And, as did Pete, best wishes all around and, especially, for a successful surgery.

Bill

Good to hear your "Marching Forward" attitude but I must confess that I would consider modifying the bike if possible.
Or maybe you can get a Bassa with forward foot controls?

All the best regardless!!!!!!!

Hey, a Bassa I can do. Mate and I both had Stones, we made forward controls for Col as he is 6'3", and rear sets for my stumps. Wanna make it turn? Been there and done that. Just ask.

Hey Richo, I've got a mate up here who rides with a carbon fibre leg, I still reckon my c/f wheels look better tho. Anyhoo, he has knee bending limitations as well.

Patricks hearts desire has been the XBR12 Buell for a long time, so he bought one. Temporarily he has to use whole right leg movement to operate the foot brake. A thumb brake is on its way.
A slight side saddle sitting position helps keep his foot on the peg, but he will reposition it so he can sit squarely on the bike in comfort.

You've just purchased your hearts desire, polished it till you could see your reflection, junked all the PC crap and tuned it with one of Beetles maps. Never say die.

And now for your encouragement;

Best of luck to you Richo, in time maybe you'll feel like giving it a go. Lot's of clever and generous folks here if you need a boost.
