Rotella T6

I have read much about this oil and the great results people are having etc. Its not that I'm a cheap skate, or that I want to go a gazillion miles between changes. That being said. I have a friend that runs the non syn rotella in his Harley with great results. As he put it... imagine what oil goes through in the engine of a semi truck. So I started thinking about the rotella t6 syn oil and did searches on google. Interesting topic to say the least. Anyone here went this route? Your thoughts and opinions please.

I use T6 in my John Deere diesels and gas powered UTV's with great results. When I rode VFR's (I've had every gen except the latest) and many in my group used it in the Honda V-4's. Some loved it, and others didn't like the effect on shifting (shifting became more difficult as the miles were added). I don't know why there would be a difference among the various bikes. So, I didn't use it because of the potential shifing issues and I preferred Brad Penn oil in my Honda's. If you decide to give it a try, let us know your results.

I would say if they developed shifting problems as the miles were added than the oil has lost its viscosity ...not good
Dont want to start an oil thread but is not Rotella for diesels ...

T6 is formulated primarily for diesel engines and rated for gasoline engines with API codes SM, SL and SJ. Agree that an oil thread can turn into a pretty emotional thing. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] website is probably the best place to go for oil questions/answers...

Guys Rotella T6 synthetic also has the "JASO MA" rating for motorcycles. My thoughts are not a gazillion miles between changes but a cost effective way to change oil more often with an excellent oil without breaking the bank, say every 2500 miles. Just a thought.

Interesting. I use that in my Chevy Duramax diesel pickup truck (and it's excellent). Do they make it in 10w60?

No they do not.

I just think its an interesting, cost effective way to change oil more often.

That's so true! What do you think of using this oil?

Diesel engines are full of soot and all sorts of crap. If you've ever owned one, you know that the oil turns absolutely black almost immediately after you change it. The oils designed for those engines usually have a pretty high detergent content. I won't use it.

Use a full synth 10w-60 motorcycle specific oil and forget this Rotela stuff. Nuff said.
