PostSubject: Best Exhaust for 2015 with stock map   Best Exhaust for 2015 with stock map Icon_minitime1Sun May 24, 2015 1:13 pm

Hey all,

Last week I picked up a new 2015. This is my first Guzzi and this site has been very helpful in immersing myself in all things GRiSO. Though I plan to fiddle with maps and such down the line (I've purchased the cables, downloaded the software, read countess posts, etc.). I want to stay mostly stock at least through break in and likely a few seasons after. I figure this will give a good base for how the bike performs and acts under various conditions.

That said, I am very interested in replacing the stock exhaust. Though I appreciate the design, I'd like a smaller (mostly slimmer) exhaust - and don't need more power or a different sound - just want to keep the stock characteristics. What would be the best exhaust replacement when only using the stock maps? I'm close to buying the Termignoni pipe and would like to hear opinions of others. And, whether that pipe requires a tune/map. Thanks all

Note - I've read the larger exhaust thread several times, but decided to keep separate as I have a particular request. Apologies if I should have left it within.

Welcome, I think that you will find the Termignoni exhaust is damn near unobtanium.

The Termi works OK but it's heavy. Essentially any or all of the aftermarket cans available will work with the stock map, (As long as they fit!) I haven't yet seen an engine destroyed by a pipe alone. Thing is some will run better than others and all will run better with a dB killer installed than without.

If you're interested in a Termi and can't source one I have a second hand one knocking about but it's dB killer is on loan to someone at the moment. Shipping it to the U.S. would be expensive too.

Whatever you choose if you wish to stick with the stock mapping try and get a pipe with length, a catalytic converter and use a dB killer. Nothing makes a GRiSO run worse than a short, loud pipe!

I have been running a Mistral carbon pipe with the stock map. The bike runs fantastic and gets great mileage, 42mpg average on most days. The pipe is light and I left everything intact, sounds great without being too loud.

I would think if you want something slim that works well with the stock map, the Arrow with catcon would be a good choice. Have a look in the first page of the 'Comprehensive GRiSO Exhaust Thread'.

Yes. I've noticed that too. I've got a line on one but not yet sure it is what I want.

Pete, I appreciate the offer. I'll keep that in mind as this progresses. I don't need louder and don't want to give up any performance... I've got a couple long trips (800-1k miles) planned and want to keep my hearing.

Thanks Beetle. I've been researching the Arrow a bit further. I think I'd get just the silencer and not the full exhaust. Forgive the ignorance, but to make sure... The catalytic converter isn't in the silencer so I have no worry swapping the stock silencer for the arrow and keeping the cat con intact?

The catcon is built into the silencer. When you order a new pipe, you'll need to make sure you order the right one. Some manufacturers have a short piece that contains a catcon that fits between the silencer and the midpipe.

Not saying a catcon is absolutely necessary, but if you want a straight swap that the ECU can easily adapt to, it may be the best option.

Gotcha. My main concern is a straight swap so I'll be sure to specify a catcon built into the silencer. I suspect I'll also need to verify that it has a db killer.

I've had the stock pipe off and felt it was a lot lighter than she looks. The stock pipe is paid for, has a warranty and all that want so I'd recommend keeping it. Just to be a wee bit contrary.

Fair advice. Perhaps she'll grow on me. Just not my favorite look. Would like something much slimmer as I like looking at the wheel. Also, I think from the rear a slimmer, tighter exhaust helps with the overall proportions.

Well I can't argue that! Very Happy For me, an ugly seat and luggage makes the pipe seem down right OK.

It has grown on me, and I'm cheap. Smile

As far as I know, the ARROW can does NOT have a cat-con, although it has been officially homologated to the latest Euro (3?) standards.  It does run fine on the stock map (with the dB killer in place), is a big weight savings from stock, is available in both polished and brushed/satin stainless steel.

The best place I have found to purchase is from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in Perugia, Italy.  Ask for Enzo Berni by phone or email and he will square you away.  Cost in pretty much as listed on the website (shipping to USA essentially offsets the VAT).

If you can't divine it from the Italian, here is a link to the correct page. Exhaust is listed under "Marmitta"

Thanks much, Steak. The italian is a bit much for me to decipher so I sent an email and hope Enzo Berni has time to respond. I noticed that Guzzitech has the Arrow exhaust also listed on their site but seems to be roughly double the cost. I hope this works out. I do wish they had their page available in English too.

I bought my Arrow headers and midpipe from this guy on eBay: CLICKY

Stocks all Arrow stuff and has a few silencers available. He's in Italy, but seems to have stock in the US too. That link is for the AU ebay store, but I'm sure he has one on the US ebay. Prices are good and he ships pretty quick.

If you don't get a timely response, you can email Mr. Enzo Berni directly at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and he should get back to you. He can manage communications in English, but it would be nice if you could start your inquiry with at least a "Ciao". A little effort meeting halfway works wonders, and it's polite.

Should be about $415 USD, shipped.

He won't know "Steak" from the GRiSO ghetto, but he will probably remember Steve D. from Seattle, WA. I purchased the first one sent to the USA.

What you can try doing is to phrase a SIMPLE question and run it through the Bing or Google translator, and then send the request on. A little pidgin Italian is better than none at all. He may respond in English, but if not, just paste his response back into a translator. You'll figure each other out.

Well, I don't know if you got anything yet, but, for me, after a bit of a fitment issue, it's seems sorted.  I have done NO refueling and it runs quite well.  Pulls strong and linear thru the revs with no noticeable drops.  It has a db killer and is not too loud.   Runs really well in tight, technical stuff

I haven't yet purchased an exhaust. My plan is to get through the breakin period and then mount the exhaust, complete a tune up/first service, and install a new map. I've been delayed racking up the miles due to work but hope to put roughly 500 miles on this weekend. Thanks for your contribution as the arrow remains as one of my top contenders.
