The gear oil shows no signs of dot 4 contamination

Firstly the top bolt for the shock? No it screws into threads in the frame. I'll double check the parts book but I'm 99% certain it doesn't use a nut.

As for the oil around the slave? It's perfectly normal as the slave acts on a thrust assembly at the rear of the gearbox which is lubricated by oil from the gearbox. It is sealed by that o-ring you can see on the slave and oil is prevented from travelling up the pushrod that operates the clutch by cone seals that go over the rod. The clutch is immediately behind the engine like a car, not at the back of the box.

Thanks Pete.
Everything checked out to be in good shape. The 4 bolts holding the rear peice of the carc on were not very tight in my opnion at least not 50nm. The swingarm pivot pin was ridiculously tight..far beyone 60nm which it supposed to be.
The swingarm bearings were in good shape but as you say there was very little grease almost none.

I replaced the o-ring at the clutch slave as the original was stretchy and didn't want to go back in nicely.

Not really that difficult of a task as long as you gather the right tools and take your time.

Hi Peaceman,

I checked my G12.
No nut on the top side, as Pete says.
Thumbs Up
