I had to put new tires on the GRiSO to pass the inspection that was required (because the bike was purchased out of province). I didn't think the old tires were that bad, but I suppose they were a little worn. I had the shop put on a set of Pirelli Angel GT's. I had Pirelli Angel STs on the 1200 Sport and liked them, so I decided to go with the same. I contemplated the Diablo Rosso's, but the roads around here are so straight I figured by the time I ever got around to using the sides the middle would be worn to the chords.
After some gentle riding to scrub them in a little I decided I could take the corners a little faster. HUGE difference from the old tires. The GRiSO handled better than any bike before it on the old rubber, now she turns in so smooth, and holds a line like it's on rails. Winter is going to come way to soon...
What tires are you guys running, and would you get them again?
By the way - the old tires were the scorpion Trails - no idea why anyone would put these on a GRiSO, but I heard that they were what came with the bike.
Ciao,
Brock

Yeah, the 2011 GRiSO 1200SE came with the Pirelli Scorpions (the same tires they were using on the Stelvio at the time.) I'm figuring that they just had a shit ton of them on hand.

The GRiSO 1100s came with Metzlers and I hated those tires. I couldn't wait to burn through those. The tires I most often ran on the 1100s were the Pirelli Diablo Supersports because I could get them real cheap from Cycle Gear and they were a decent balance of performance and durability for the price. They weren't the best option, but they were a bargain. I also ran the Diablo Rosso which was a nice performance upgrade, but were more expensive.

The 2012 GRiSO 1200SE came shod with Dunlop Qualifiers which aren't bad tires at all. I've got just over 6000 miles on them and there's still plenty of treadlife left. I figure they'll be good for 7-8K. I'm going to try the Pirelli Diablo Rosso II when these are spent. I talked to the Pirelli rep about them at the EuroMoto show this past spring and he said they made some nice improvements to the tires to increase wet and dry performance while increasing tread life. The rear is a dual compound tire and the front is single (softer) compound.

A lot of GRiSO riders are having great luck with the Michelin Pilot 3, especially those here in the rainy, wet Seattle area. I'll likely try those at some point too, but I want to try the Rosso II first.

I thought about the Rosso II as well, I'll be interested to see if you like them. I got soaked on the Angels by having to buy them from the shop if I wanted my bike back for the weekend. If I had known he wasn't going to pass the inspection without new tires I would have ordered them online before I took the bike in. Online they would have cost me $310 for both, I paid $460. Bloody rip off. Oh well, at least I had the bike back in time for the weekend. Riding to work in the mornings is becoming bloody cold, I have a month of riding left if I'm lucky...

I'm running PR3s on mine and will be due a new rear soon. I'll be getting another PR3 but the price here in Oz is $305 AUD for the rear. It almost makes me want to get a tyre fitting machine.
