Have been reminded of Grisoghetto and now have new password. So here I am, from Belfast direction, with first generation 2008 8V, more or less intact.

Dave! Welcome! Sorry, I lost all your contact details after our last communication.

Things have moved on a LONG way from when you and I last communicated!

First thing. Take that shithouse pipe and bin it. Go back to the original if you can't get or afford something decent.

Get on board with Guzzidiag. I should be able to sort the mechanical fuck-ups inflicted on your bike. The clever people who do mapping will get that thing singing like the very fattest of fat ladies!

If you want to get in contact direct my email is on the Guzzi Australia website. Just sorry we dropped out of contact.

Pete

Pete: I think there were a few difficult circumstances on both sides of the globe at last email and I haven't been around V11forum for a long time.

Someone near here (Steve) has remapping gear, maybe Guzzidiag. I have been intending to look into it and I also have seen mentions of the Booster Plug and the Finebauforge compensators (are they basically the same thing?).

BTW I'm not sure that I'd be able to re-fit the original exhaust without some fabrication work. When I got the GT pipe the fit was so bad - including wrong diameter matches - that I cut sections of the original pipes, ground them down etc to make it all fit. You may vaguely remember I had a tough time trying to get it sorted 7 years ago. It was also when the sacred screw got turned! I eventually got the engine / exhaust system running serviceably with your generous help. My main thought has been to do the remap or fit a compensator, with the pipe as is... though I have wondered about trying the original again.

Currently, the most urgent thing I need to do is replace the fork seals. They were leaking over a year ago and I had a bike shop replace them at the same time as fitting new brake discs. One side leaked straight away (the opposite side to the original bad one). I guess that he used standard aftermarket seals and maybe they do not make an exactly perfect seal... or maybe it was damaged on fitting. Anyway I ordered genuine Guzzi fork seals and dust seals. They took a couple of months to arrive and have been sitting at my house for more months. I'll have to get time to do the job, though I'm not particularly looking forward to it. I don't have a seal fitting tool but I guess sections of plastic pipe will do the job ok? I emailed the guy who did the previous fitting but he didn't reply to the messages. I might try him again, to see if he will assist.

BTW there is no Guzzi Dealer in Northern Ireland now (and I think still not in the South either). The dealership/authorised service moved a couple more times since 'The Hammer' who did the disastrously bad cam replacement work. I doubt there will ever be a Guzzi dealer / Service centre here again. That's close to 10 different places that took it on and failed with it in past 12 years (and this is a small country).

The GT-RH pipe! What a comprehensive fuck-up that was! Didn't fit, didn't work, made you deaf! Beautifully made but as much use as tits on a bull!

The good news may be that the *Gen-1* Tappet replacement seems to have been the best. No idea why but mine is still going strong in my shitbox at 85K plus and Mark III's was also fine until he troweled it, and nearly himself, at 65K ish.

Your biggest issues are going to be the pipe and the fact your TB's have been buggered with. Best option for that will be to wait until the crashing season starts in the US and buy a set of unmollested TB's off fleabay.

Once you are past that getting your bike to be what it can be is just a hop, skip and a jump. Yes, it will need input and work from yourself but that work is essentially simple and we can walk you through it.

You were an 'Early Adopter' who really got the rough end of the pineapple. I'd love to see this have a happy ending!!

Still got the Dorso?

Pete

Yes, the Dorso is going great, though my legs haven't gotten any longer. :-D It's a pleasure to ride and hasn't required much looking after –it gives no trouble at all.

On the TBs: I personally don't know how much effect that being 'a little off' has. I know the talk at the time was that any movement would be dire and it was impossible to get back to the correct factory set-up (in which case I wish that the factory had capped the screw properly instead of just painting it). I got it back to 'as close as possible' going through procedures with the Axone and Carbtune, but as it happened during all the other mess-ups, particularly, just after the big dive in performance on fitting the GT RH, I don't have a clear riding experience comparison that was isolated to the screw change.

Right enough, as the years have moved on now, there may be some small second-hand availability of unadjusted TBs.

Yes, the GRiSO looks best at certain angles and a bit peculiar at others (mostly to do with the big oil cooler radiator box). Laughing

Start of today. I was sort of thinking that Winter is moving towards Spring... or is it the other way round? Anyway: thought I should look at the bike.
