| So I tried reading the owners manual, obviously it doesn't translate well from Italian. My dealer is telling me that the first service is 1000km or 650mi. whats the real poop on the oil change interval and other maintenance? | |

| First service somewhere between 800-1,500km. It's not super critical if the PD was actually carried out.
First service all oils and oil filter, adjust valves, balance TB's, RE-set TPS and self learners. Check brake and clutch fluid, run a spanner over main fasteners to check for tightness, install Beetlemap and go flog the living crap out of it!

| Beetlejuice (aka Beetle maps) makes tuning carburettors seem like the hardest possible way to do things.
With EFI you can fine tune just about any parameter for best engine running at any revs or loads. Beetle has invested much time doing this. And now, beetle maps are available for specific engine/exhaust combinations and this make your bike fly, as intended, but never delivered from the factory.
simple uploads lets you unleash smoothness, fuel economy and performance, hitherto unheard of in "as shipped" condition. I believe the correct term is "buttery smooth".
when advised by gurus to put in a beetle map, it is not a joke nor is it anything too horrible to do. The rewards are truly worth the paltry costs. Like Nike, jus do it!

| So while I wont be doing any mods till after the first service, which exhaust is preferred? I've read the thread but there seems to be no definitive answer. Is the Arrow full system the way to go or is it Guzzi Tech...
I've always been partial to Zard and Arrow but i've always been playing in the Triumph World.

| I use and recommend the Mistral Hi-Pipe. It could be bothersome if you ever use panniers or carry a pillion. If you want a 'normal' exhaust, Arrow, Mistral Conical, Zard 'Race' or Agostini X-Black.
Steak runs an Arrow pipe and seems quite happy with it. I have no direct experience with it.
With regard to the full Arrow system, including Ti headers and mid-pipe, I run them with the Mistral. The stock mid pipe pretzel serves a purpose. If you use the headers and mid-pipe with a 'low' muffler like the Arrow, Zard or Mistral Conical, or Agostini, you will lose a bit of low and midrange torque. It moves the peak torque up the rev range a bit. It's OK if you hang around in the 6000+ range. Top end rush, and all that.

| I can highly recommend the Mistral Hi, while I am not experienced with anything other than the stock pipe, the Hi pipe when set up makes the bike so crisp and responsive that it is a joy to ride. | |

| I can recommend both the Mistral conical (low pipe) or QuatD as they both work well with the appropriate Beetle map and you should have no problem fittings bags or panniers.

| Just as an aside, both the ARROW Ti pipes and the reverse cone exhaust can were only developed because of one of our brethren. Enedan, of the Italian GRiSO forum, went to the ARROW custom/race exhaust shop and challenged them to design a system specifically for the 1200 8V GRiSO. He left his bike with them during development and then tested the prototype. It was a success! ARROW then produced a limited run for interested GRiSO forum members. I was lucky enough to get in on that deal and have the first ARROW can sent to the USA for a GRiSO.
The interest was high enough to catch the eye of the ARROW production side and they have since added the GRiSO exhaust to their regular line-up. We can thank our Italian GRiSisti for getting this done! --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]2012 MOTO GUZZI GRiSO 1200SE2013 MOTO GUZZI STELVIO 1200NTX - Orange Blossom Special
