I would like to use the factory GPS power for other things. Has a source been discovered so we can plug and play?

If you have it, it will be tucked behind the steering head tube.

Hi Paul, the Gordian knot solution eh?

I know that somewhere there is a mate for this plug so I don't have to cut my virginal wiring harness.

But where?

What does the TomTom plug look like? Are all TomTom plugs the same?

I looked and found:

You can find it in Mercedes/BMW/Audi werkshop, they use it in cars
It is the Micro-Quadlock-System (MQS) of AMP/Tyco. We need the A version

They one you are looking for is
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Pin housing, Mercedes A2105404781, tyco 1--968733-6 und 1-967570-3
White insert 965325-1 (male)
pins (2x) A0345456528

At Mercedes there is with number A2305400166 a cord of  15cm that you can use to cut of one side,  15 euro

Partnumber with A are Mercedes

I just got one of these in the mail! For you Yanks, the source is:
Mercedes Benz of South Atlanta, 770-964-6404

I had to phone my order in as the website wants make, model, etc.

Got it in 2 weeks, cost $18.50

Now I can use my cheap Garmin Nuvi!
