Went for a spin today and all was smooth sailing when it just died and would not restart. Check all fuses under seat and battery terminals. Also when I hit the starter button, it would continue to try and start for a few seconds even after my finger was off the button!
What should I look for that's not obvious? I had to get it towed home and it's in the garage on this holiday weekend. Happy Independence Day to those that celebrate![You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Open tank, try and start - if swooshing in the tank, then fuel filter has come adrift. Otherwise, FIIK!

So will it crank? or is it completely electrically dead?

No swooshing, Cranks put no starting. Actually it did start for two seconds a few mins ago, then quit. I just went and put more gas in it to no avail. Maybe fuel pump? Where do I find that rascal?

Sounds like the fuel hose has come adrift in the tank or the filter has burst.

Whip the tank off and invert it. Pull the pump assembly and have a squizz.

Hi CC
You say "cranks put no starting"
We need to know what this means, is the starter motor cranking over the engine ? Ie, is the starter motor rotating the engine ?

The starter is working, but the ignition is not making the engine run. I bet it's fuel delivery related.

Not really relevant to your problem, but AFAIK that bit is normal. Always wierds me out, but you can press then release the starter button and it continues to crank until it fires. I assume the ECU monitors and disengages the starter auto-magically.
Lotsa cars (esp with Start Buttons) now work the same way.

If you find you have one of the old half white plastic/ half metal filters you should probably replace it.
I think they've been known to split . Pete ??

Goodluck - there's lotsa tips on here about removing the 'quick' disconnect fittings.

Yes, To save yourself a lot of grief........ Lift the tank very gently or you may kink the supply line between the tank and Tee piece, Disconnect the Fuel Pump lead under the tank, then crank the engine on the starter.....Twice. This relieves the pressure in the injector supply lines. Push the coupling further on, then squeeze the Grey end as you pull back, It will come off easy-peasy. If you don't relieve the pressure first it's next to impossible to disconnect

If it is the fuel pump there should be no pressure to relieve ..... the possible reason for this issue is no fuel pressure ...

.................................... then re-attach fuel pump wires.
attach spare fuel hose to tank outlet .................. and hold other end to your eye.
Push 'start' button.

If your eye gets wet and stings ................... it's NOT a pressure problem.

If at this point in time you light up a smoke, I guarantee all your other problems will go away.

TO Motorsports found this cam tensioner failure issue.

Nuts! Did they give you a repair estimate? I recall Pete saying that's an engine out deal. Plastic for such a critical part. I wonder if it was compromised during rollerisation. Sorry CC.

No, it's the fuckwit who did the rollerisation. The tensioner is just fine. The whole things is a typical GT clusterfuck.

Yeah, you're right. A fellow Ozzie mate of yours did the work. All I do is work on fixing other people's fuck-ups Pete, so piss off.

Really. The owner said it was going to be done by you Todd? BTW your AFR targets are all wrong for the 8V. You really need to go to school for a while before you start playing with stuff you don't understand.

To be fair, I usually just drop my bike off and they let me know when to pick it off. I assume Todd does it himself, but not always the case.

BTW Pete, for the record, I haven't purchased any Guzzi-Tech products other then a T-shirt. Todd services my GRiSO and the V-7 Racer that I and my son, bought from him. The V-7 came with one of his exhausts already installed and Todd gave us a great price. It's loud as it can be and I wanted my son to be heard in traffic.

BTW.2 Guzzi-Tech will fix the GRiSO at no charge.
Looking forward to once again enjoying a great bike!

So Pete, put down the pint and chill out and Todd, stay as cool as I know you can be. Viva la Fiesta
