I need a new project, and have been looking at donor bikes. A very low mileage GRiSO 850 is for sale locally for a low enough price to consider.

Does anyone produce a different tank for the GRiSO? I don't want this to look like a GRiSO. If I wanted that look I wouldn't be modifying it, or would buy a newer one. I'd like to think I'd get 300k's out of a tankful, or more.

I have a lady friend over here who rides an 850 Breva very quickly indeed, so I don't want to hear about lack of performance for the 850. It has enough. But does the 850 get better fuel consumption than the 1100, or is it close, as I suspect?

No alternative tanks I know of.

Performance? Just let it be said that the 850 is disappointing when compared to the Bellagio due to its single plug and consequent conservative mapping. Ideally you would take the 850 or 940 donk and use the 40mm(?) TB's and W5AM with twin plugs and map appropriately. (Twin plugging the 850 is easy as there are just bungs in the heads where the other plugs go.).

If you are looking for an alternative 'Project' why not chase down a Breva 850, (Bigger tank.) or a 2V 1200 Sport? Fuel economy isn't that much different if they are mapped right.

Pete

Thanks Pete. Not in any rush, as have gone back to work again. The 2v 1200 sport is a good idea, but there's a scarcity of any second hand bikes atm over here, whatever model.
