Spark Plug Life Empty
PostSubject: Spark Plug Life   Spark Plug Life Icon_minitime1Fri Jul 15, 2016 4:11 am

Gurus, young and old!

I replace my plugs every 20,000 km as per the "book" - the airbox is out, the air filter is also changed, and I can get access to them relatively easily. In reality, what do you think the inner (PMR8B) and outer (BPR6ES) plug life really is? I know the PRM8B is supposed to be long life, but how long...

Your thoughts are welcomed (now ducks for cover).

As I'm prone to long periods of non-riding, therefore I'm often burning old stale fuel, I've been told this will foul the plugs.
In your case Tony, that won't happen. Theoretically you should get 40k out of the PMR8B's.

I agree with Wayne. If you put Iridium outers in well they should last as long as the inners. Cheers

Iridium is the way to go IMO...
Also like beetle sez, you shouldn't need to replace them, not for a long time anyway.

Not related to our bikes but Ford recommended plug replacement at 100K miles on my 2001 F150...
I did wait that long but it was obvious that the efficiency was greatly impaired by then.
After replacement, I noticed improvement with gas mileage mostly and also easier start ups.
So I won't go over 60K miles on a set of spark plugs...
