| So after nearly two decades of accident free riding, I had a low speed, low side. Thankfully, I was not going very fast 20-30mph but there is still damage. Me: a few bumps and bruises and a broken humerus [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The bike doesn't look to bad. Shifter is loose but doesn't seem damaged. I think the shoulder screw that attaches it simply broke. Both turn signal lenses are scratched but not broken. The left mirror is scratched as is the bar end and clutch lever. The y pipe cover is scratched, and the can has rash on it. None of that really concerns me to much but the valve cover took a shot as expected. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][url=https://s82.photobucket.com/user/Jhtjon/media/1b233918ffa20a1ca313b0cb2de13e3e_zps98fjyqfb.jpg.html] I have not started the bike since the accident (Sunday morning), nor have I contacted my insurance company. Should I take the bike to the dealer for evaluation, should I call the adjuster... If the damage is as superficial as it appears I would just assume fix the bike without evolving the insurance co. How worried should I be that I ruined the motor? | |

| I take it it stopped once it was on its side? It should of, it has a tip over switch. In which case the motor should be fine. In all honesty the damage doesn't look bad enough to call in insurance. What is your excess?how much no claims bonus do you have?
Fling a rocker cover at it, and a new shifter pin and use it as an excuse to get rid of the original muffler. If you like the original there must be hundreds of them out there gathering dust! I have several! You should be able to pick one up fairly cheap.
Heal well.

| I have a $500 deductible. I'm just concerned about head damage, there is some weeping around the valve cover, could just be from getting knocked around.
My humorous is another story all together. That is broken into three pieces and will require lightweight racing screws (titanium) to put it back together.

| Ouch! Glad your OK. Busted humerus isn't funny. Sigh. Had to say it. Good news for you is that the valve covers for your model are cheap ($80) and the shifter pin isn't much either. The valve covers always leak when they touch down. I've had a bit of experience in that department. Titanium is always good on a bike. | Sorry to hear about your spill, I hope you recover quickly. I'm not sure about your state but in Massachusetts an "at fault accident " will cost you plenty over time if you file a claim. We have a point system in my state. It takes six years to retire an incident and the effect is a higher insurance rate for the term. I have a perfect score that has taken time to defend over the years... | |

| Porr you. I had an off a bit over a month ago and broke a leg-my first acident since 1980.
I have involved my insurance as I could not collect the bike. I wish I hadn't-they are trying to renege on their word to repair it and looks like it'll be months before it's fixed. In the meantime, I'm hobbling about trying to get my little TU250X sorted.

| Clavicle is supposed to have that gap there.
The plan right now is to have the dealer do a once over on the bike. Then I'll fix it myself.

| As my exhaust has scratches in the headers, mid pipe an silencer I am thinking about replacing the stock items with a new full system. besides the Arrow Titanium headers does anyone make aftermarket head pipes for our bikes? I would prefer stainless as I do not like the typical color shifts that Ti get. | |

| Dang, that sucks! Hope you are good to go soon!I know where there are a few stock collectors if you decide to keep it original. Probably just cost the shipping from California.

| No insurance company needed. Fix the shifter & ride. Bike scars make good war stories.
Glad you are ok. | |

| Bollox! Not good, hope dem bones heal quick, as for the bike get rid, bad karma imho. Treat yourself to a new one different colour, you get the excitement of a new bike and no bad vibes about a busted bike made good. You could px it, let the dealer have all the heartache of mending what you did. Win Win. Ain`t no pockets in a shroud matey. | |

| My clavical never did heal up right. Titanium bar was added. Still not right. Oh well, it only hurts when the dog jumps on it. Next time try for the right side - although the CARC casing is not cheap. | |

Arrow does. I thought Arrow only offered the titanium system, I've never seen one in stainless from them. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]2012 MOTO GUZZI GRiSO 1200SE2013 MOTO GUZZI STELVIO 1200NTX - Orange Blossom Special

| So I am out of the Hospital and it only took a plate and eight screws to put my shoulder back together again. I find it amazing how modern medicine works.
Three years ago at a birthday party with my son and daughter I slipped an fell and broke the ball off my right humerus. It was a non-surgical break. The Dr. put me in a sling and said, "Don't move it and it should be OK in eight weeks. Three years later and hundreds of hours of physical therapy later it is just OK. I have full range of motion but I have never felt that it was "right".
My accident was July 17th, my surgery was July 25th. I am sitting at my keyboard typing properly, I am able to drive, provided I'm not whacked out of my gourd on pain killers, and I have better range of motion than I did five weeks into my last broken arm.
An Interesting note. My Orthopedist asked me some very interesting questions while I was in the hospital, specifically about what type of riding gear I was wearing.
Cycle Gear Bilt Riding Jeans Vanson Race gloves Joe Rocket Meteor Boots Arai Signet Q helmet Triumph Textile McQueen jacket
His reply was interesting, "I knew it looking at the break, that you weren't wearing a leather jacket." He went on to explain that while textile riding gear is great it has one major flaw, riders tend to roll rather than slide. He also indicated that he was fairly certain that the initial fall did not break my arm it was rolling and getting my arm caught behind me that broke it. I went back and looked at my gear closely for the first time today and I think he is correct. I have little to no abraded areas on my gear.
Looks like I'll be buying leather this time.

| Well the bike is all back together and I even took a quick spin around the block. The new pips sounds good in my opinion and actually looks good on the bike. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| I have no clue how I missed this entire thread, but I never saw it ... and apologize for not conveying condolences for you and your GRiSO sooner. Anyway, sounds as if you and machine are, under all of the potential and real circumstances, in grand shape. I low-sided on the right (tho both sides are "wrong," of course ) three years ago. I fared better than you physically, but, after all the dollars were counted for repair and replacement, there were lots of 'em. Not sure if you sucked up the repair costs, but I did file an insurance claim. Progressive was magnificent. I even won my "appeal" and they count it as not my fault. I've also been with 'em long enough to earn "large accident forgiveness." Don't want anymore dumps, but at my age that is way more about damage to me from bouncing on pavement than to the Guzzi. Anyway, your beast looks great, and glad you are better, too. Sounds as if you have a high-class ortho. Safe riding. Bill | |

| My Ortho is fantastic, but a little stingy on the pain meds, understandably so. I can tell you that my co-pays and deductibles for the surgery were far more expensive than fixing the bike.
Surgery, hospital, ER etc... about $50K and $3000.00 out of pocket. Repair the bike including a used staintune can, $950.00 the only thing I did not fix was a very small grind on the lower header.
I am so shocked at how cheap Guzzi parts are.

| Bike looks nice again.
Re riding gear, I feel more secure in leathers and consequently ride a bit more enthusiastically. My textile gear is for the "Hipster Look" the "riding jeans" (cough) I bought are pesh but been a tight wad I only paid £90. My levis are heavier and would be more appropriate I think
Glad you are still up for it.
Keep on keepin on.
