Thinking of opening the can of worms associated with re-mapping my 2014 GRiSO. Various threads on this forum refer to map names that appear to be quite cryptic. Is there any numerical order to what constitutes various maps? For example:
BBGRS8VLDM3 2229GRS8V68
Two different maps, but stuffed if I know what is what. Any assistance appreciated. Thanks.

Never seen BBGRS8VLDM3, but 2229GRS8V68 (commonly referred to as the 68S map) is the best map the factory produced. Unfortunately, it was never homogolated.
The nomenclature is a bit vague, but basically the newer the map, the higher the numbers.eg:
GRiSO 8V maps, in release order:
2229GRS4V34 -> Extremely bad.
2229GRS8V52 -> very bad
2229GRS8V68 -> very good, but never homogolated
2230G803 -> last and final pedestrian (meh!) map. In all 8V GRiSO's since 2010.

Interesting!!!
Mine (1100) has the 2229GRS1103, I thought this was the latest...
Anyone knows how could I find the 2230GS08 to load it with the IAW5xWriter? Does it worth the effort?
Thanks

I have a copy of the 2230GS08 that I took of my 1100. I can send it to you, if you want.
Then again: I replaced it with Beetle's GRiSO-FU2-4V-6A01.2015.02.25 map, and there is no comparison. I would strongly suggest that you contact Beetle and purchase his map. Much MUCH better!!

Thanks, PMed you my email...
Beetle map is on the todo list, at the moment, I'd like to have the best possible factory map, with working oxygen sensor (and whatever adjustement done), just to avoid possible problems during the anual emmisions inpection.

My dealer tells me my 2014 GRiSO has the "current up to date map" so, that's really cool! The only experience I have with maps is the paper ones and if you are really careful folding them you can almost get them back to there original size. I pulled the cover and confirmed it has rollers, almost peed a little was so happy after reading all the gloom. My bike now has 500kms on the clock, completely stock (added the MPH relay) and not having anything to compare it to, it seems to work rather well. Not planning on adding or altering the suck, bang, blow part of the bike. I guess my question to Beetle is your map conceivably a benefit to my stock performance? Thanks in advance and appreciate all the knowledge here.

Yes. You'll get linear power delivery, a better torque curve, and better fuel economy.

Yes, yes and yes. I was an early adopter of the Beetle ways but my first remap was done by Pete in the parking lot of the Rye NY Hilton and was the 68S map.
At 65 MPH in 6th gear I get 40 mpg (thumbs red suspenders). The same as my 45 HP 1975 Eldorado.

I also went to Beetle map and can say that fuel economy has substantially increased for me (>40km/tank). Power is linear and the fuelling smoooooooth! No more snatchy throttle here no sireee! For me it is a new bike and totally worth doing!

Thank you, much appreciated, it confirms that my bike has the correct (but unsatisfactory) factory map and that there are no further factory improvements available. The next step will be to improve it, with one of yours.
