PostSubject: Tassie fun.......   Thu May 04, 2017 11:13 pm

Well, Jude had to come to Tassie for a week so I've tagged along too. I also cunningly arranged to do a rollerisation on a Stelvio in Ulverstone on Monday which means the trip is tax deductible! Go me! cheers

Anyway, apart from that I'm going to be just arseing about during the day so if anyone in the north of the island wants their TB's synced or a map slipping into their bike let me know.

I'm also going to be at a loose end on Wednesday night as Jude has to go out for supper with a whole load of industry wonks and reckons I'd be bored witless and would probably get drunk and take my clothes off or punch someone or embarrass her in some other way so if anyone fancies a beer in Launceston on Wednesday evening that would be fun!

We're in Stanley tonight and tomorrow but then it's back to Lonnie.

Only thing I think I forgot is an 8mm spanner and a cap wrench for the oil filter! Very Happy

Bloke with a Stelvio is called Mike King, beyond that I know nothing! Probably a psychopath who keeps jars of women's ears in a jar under his bed.......

Yep, Michael King was then the head of Emergency Services at Deveponport Hospital. He had bought the Special to carry the wife on the back, but she didn't like it, so he was going to get an ST4. Besides, he said the Monza was almost on the road - fully restored - & he didn't need two of them. Nice bloke. He looked the proper build for a Stelvio, too.

You can let him know that the Special is doing well, 84,000 k on it now, it's been around Oz, & the only failure was a front wheel bearing. And that was a $26 fix. Still very happy with the bike.

Bugger Trev, I knew there was a reason that my intuition has been heavily prompting me to give you a ring. I shall do it later today, but after the sun comes up. I had thought it was just 'cause I wanted some of the bits from the Special sitting in your garage - principally the rear footrest hangers & the handlebar clamp assemblies - cousin Mal is over here again & I want to put standard bars back on for him to ride more comfortably to the Budgie. The rest of the bit would need a vehicle a vehicle & I should have organised that long ago. Speak to you soon.

Pete, from memory, Mike's garage was well equipped & I'd be surprised if he didn't have more than one 8mm spanner, especially with that Monza there, not to mention his other bikes. Give him a ring - if he is still in Emergency, his hours are unconventional.

Well, the patient was treated.

Caught nice and early. Still runs a bit shitty as the bike has a Staintune with no dBk, ran like shit with the stock map, ran like shit with most of the others I tried. Ended up using the same map I'm using in my POS which is otherwise identical and bumping the CO trim up to 28! Yes, I know, but it was the best option for now. He has strict instructions to get a dBk and he has the VDSTS set up which I believe should allow him to trim the CO with an OL map. Once the dBk is in he should be able to trim it to near zero as my bike runs like a dream.

On the subject of weird shit I'm in Launceston in Tasmania, (often referred to a 'Inceston' for reasons I'll leave to your fertile imaginations!) and last night as we were staggering back from the restaurant we saw this!

Can anybody explain to me WTF that is all about? 'Cos I'm buggered if I can! It was parked outside a craft beer shop which I think implies something........

Thanks guys.

About that "scoot". The father of a Tassie mate has this big scar across one shoulder that he enjoys showing off to the unsuspecting. May that owner didn't have the op. Or they took off the wrong one.
