PostSubject: Electrical failure - 1200 Sport   Thu Jun 15, 2017 4:42 am

Hope someone may have a suggestion on what may be causing the issue.

Had a run out with the club the other night and bike was working and running fine, went to start it to come home and it wouldn't (about an hours ride).

Symptoms
Ignition on - Dash lights and goes through self check, pilot bulb on headlight on; tail ights and brake lights not working
headlight flash not working.
Horn not working - no relay click (have addtional relay fitted)
Does not start - small relay does operate
Indicators do light up (cannot remember if they flash)
Parking switch poistion does light up taillight and pilot bulb
Battery checked for voltage by recovery bod.
power not getting to small fuse block (micro blade fuses)

All fuses OK
No corrosion on battery terminals
Tried addtional battery across existing in case battery was problem.

Thoughts are that it could be one of three things:-
ignition asembly
Immobiliser
ECU

Tried attaching GuzziDiag and couldn't get a connection
Found some connectors with corrosion (the 3 or 4 around alternator/ECU are) - cleaned

Any sugestions please

thanks

Brian

Can you access 'Diagnostics' in the menu?

This will show any error codes.

You will need the service code for the 1200 Sport - which is 36421 (if button operated)
or 28315 (if joystick operated).

Partial update
ECU shows no errors and the dash only shows Fuel and Air temp, undestandable as tank is off.
I haev found that if I put a live onto the Green wire that is on the small fuse panel I can get everything back.  Engine turns over lights, horn and acessories too.

I have also stripped the ignition switch and cannot see anything wrong with it. no corrosion or melted bits.  I also get 12v up to the switch on the Red/Black and Yellow/White (as they are on the same strip) but nothing is coming out on the other connectors.

Have you got the circuit diagram?

If not it can be downloaded from Guzziteck.org.

Anyway it appears you are making progress!
