OK, so the combustion chamber is significantly deeper in the 1400 pistons than the 1200's. Thats good.

Next job is to weigh 'em and work out if there's enough meat on the bottom of the rods to grind off the required amount to balance the buggers up. I suspect their might be. The factory would of wanted to keep parts communality and make things simple.

Basegasket is same with 1200 and 1400 so no spindling the engine case. But crank is different.

If I see the picture from pistons, the 1400 has much more meat on top.

Yah. Calculating CR and working out how and where to remove material will be essential so as to know how to balance the crank.

Well that makes it easy. The crank here is less than $900 to me. By the time I'd screwed about with postage, insurance from overseas or wanking about getting stuff malloried to get the weight right it wouldn't be worth the shag! I'll get a 1400 crank! Just gotta sort the rod weights.

I love this sort of shit, real specials.
Factory special do nothing for me as they are made in the factory.
Grab 300 bikes wonder over to the race shop, last years bits in the basket.
Wack them on, plate it 1 to 300 and sell them for shit load.
More than likely anyone could build it as the parts are normally available to the public in two years anyway.
Looking forward to the build, and if it doesn't work out, you tried.
If it dose which I think it will, send it back to the factory and say, look I can do it why the f*&k can't you.

Dunno yet, I've been virtually crippled the last week or so. That pain I thought was gout in Italy? Well, it's not. They aren't sure what it is yet but it has been so bad sometimes I can barely stand. Yesterday was a bad day. I couldn't even motivate myself to stagger to the post office to weigh the pistons. Today's a bit better, I can at least walk but I've got a backlog of work I need to get out the door. As I said, this will be a medium to long term project. Nothing will happen overnight.
