Shift from neutral into gear at speed oddity Empty
PostSubject: Shift from neutral into gear at speed oddity   Shift from neutral into gear at speed oddity Icon_minitime1Mon Oct 25, 2021 6:16 pm

Just came back from my weekend trip to France, and while getting a miss-shift into neutral instead of first gear I noticed the following oddity: while at speed I can't seems to shift into either first gear or second gear from neutral unless I slow down enough to sync rpm. Even with the clutch lever completely pressed, shifting into first or second gear from neutral produces a continuous loud rattling sound, and if I release the clutch lever it tends to drops back into neutral.

Any ideas what the cause of this can be? Every other way of shifting all works fine. From neutral into first at standstill works fine as well.

Check the plunger depth as a first step. How far out is your clutch lever set?

What I don't understand is, how/why are you in Neutral, at speed? Question

Obviously not by intend. Very rarely when downshifting before for example a sharp corner it ends up being in neutral rather than in first gear by mistake (or alternatively it 'overshoots' when downshifting from third to second gear) Emphasis on very rarely which is why I noticed this only now after riding the bike for nearly 5 years.

It's on setting 3, but that doesn't seems to matter, I've tested it and it does this on every one of the 4 clutch lever settings.
