Lately I noticed a buzzing sound when riding the GRiSO, eventually tracked it down to the headers, checked and tightened the bolts and the buzzing was still there.scratch

I took off the headers thinking that there may some kind of insert in the pipes that needed a spot of weld. Nothing inside the header pipes and then noticed the obvious, the two manifold gaskets had totally disintegrated. Luckily I had a spare set to put in, I didn't get a chance to try it yet but am fairly confident that this was the reason for the very annoying buzzing vibey sound.

If you start getting these symptoms it may be worth checking the header gaskets. Smile

One of the header pipes is very close to the side stand bracket. Makes a din if it touches there Thumbs Up

Thanks for this post.  I recently had the headers off for an unrelated project and after a 300 mile break-in ride with no issues a weird resonance appeared every time the revs go above 4,000.  I checked the synch and it was right on.  Fresh gaskets might be the answer as I just used the old ones.

To be clear, are you talking about the cylinder-to-header or header-to-pretzel gasket?

I had a dragonfly caught on the front of a bike once (poor thing). It made one hell of a noise and I thought the bike had a serious problem-but, having studied dragonflies in my youth, I knew what they sounded like when trapped. Sadly, the poor thing had lost most of its wings. It could never have flown again.

So I squashed it.

It was a male Aeschna Grandis, if anyone is remotely interested. Beautiful thing.
