Holy, Hell, Ron. Reminds me of and AJS 350 I blew up years ago, had holes in the holes. Twas the Australian short circuit champion at the time. Similar approach - dispose of if not needed, lighten where possible.

It will be Shocked Tractability at the lower revs doesn't matter for this beasty. I wouldn't bother with this for a normal street bike, to much trouble. I'm awaiting the bill for the machining, The good thing is, I service their aeroplane, so their bill can be adjusted accordingly Laughing
Some other internal mods being done too....... Watch this space Sleep

I do know that the early 8V clutch assemblies are a bit heavier than the later ones but I have to say that I haven't noticed any discernable difference apart from the pull at the handlebar between my '08 unit and the later '12 one in my current motive plant.

The Cali 14 unit has a lighter pull too but I haven't weighed it. Perhaps I'll do it tomorrow if I remember!

As it stands though I, and only I, don't feel the need to lighten up my 8V clutch assemblies. With the earlier, Carburetted, 2V motors could benefit a lot from a 'Performance' point of view by radically lightening the flywheel and ring gear assembly. With a fuel injected bike with a much higher compression ratio and the ability to completely chop the fuel when the throttle is closed this is much less of an issue.

I'm sure for Ron's track bike it may well have benefits, albeit minor, but for a road going GRiSO? Well. I won't be doing it, apart from maybe on the 1400 project because it has a lower CR but that's for down the track.

The 2012 clutch is 600 grams lighter then the 2008 version. I forgot to put the 1400 clutch on the scale before I put it in. But it looked not different then the 2012 unit. And the clutch feel is very light.

Clutch assembly balancing today.  Machining boys did a good job. Starting point 3.6 Grams out. Finished in one run, down to 0.5 Grams. A difference of 3.1 Grams, that would equate to some "x" amount at red line  Rolling Eyes

Finally, Track GRiSO is ready for another lap. New Tail / RSV4 Aprilia. Throttle response is noticeably quicker. The new air box is approximately 3 times the original capacity. This weekend is all about tuning runs.

Oh dear! Ron takes going fast seriously rather than just posting up stupid dyno charts!

I have no idea how to add ‘Cred’ but this gets a lot from me!

I added some for the both of us.

This is very cool. I had an argument with a stupid cunt who reckons you can't ride a GRiSO fast. Fuck him and every other stupid git.

Ron, you're my hero.

Maybe for Pete we should change this thread title to: GRiSO crutch.

The aRS end looks cool Ron!
Interested in the big airbox effect, hopefully more grunt.

The only problem I found with the GRiSO on my track day was the straights. Those damn I4's could spool up and fly around me while I was about to break off the throttle turning it so hard.

That is a great looking beast. If it goes as it looks then you have a real killer bike there.

It didn’t blow up cheers
I feel it pulls a bit harder, as in it gets to the rev limiter quicker. It gets horribly wriggly in the front end when changing 2nd to 3rd. I recorded some data which I have yet to look at, but overall it seems to be very close to being right as far as power delivery goes. I also recorded some video which I’ll post once I get it sorted out. Also , Big John, Ian and Steve from the Qld Guzzi club came to say hi. Was good to meet them. Hope to have a beer with them at the Budgie drunken
