Nope, she's a miniature, Mom was only 18lbs and the way she's growing I don't think she'll even make that so she should be good in that kennel. But my Tiger just sold so maybe a Ural could find it's way into the garage. ;-)

That's funny: after deciding I wanted a motorbike again, I was considering between buying a Tiger 800XC and a GRiSO. Two very different bikes, but somehow they both appealed to me. In the end I decided to go for the GRiSO - making an emotional choice, as I guess most bikers do when it comes to buying a bike.

Would be nice to hear why you decided to sell your Tiger and buy a GRiSO instead.

I bought the Tiger thinking it could be my "only" bike. My wife rides a Triumph Street Triple and we both have Suzuki DR dual sports. Sometimes on a street ride we see a nice gravel road heading over a mountain and wish we were on our DRs, and then we're heading home from a great dual sport ride and looking at a 2-3 hour highway slog, which is OK on my 650 but not great on Jodie's 200. We also go south in the winter for 3-4 months and are always debating whether to take the street bikes or the DRs. I figured with the Tiger I could do it all, which it did. We went on several dual sport rides and the Tiger will go anywhere I'm willing to take it, plus it's a great road bike. I traded in my Honda CBF1000 on the Tiger and didn't give up anything performance or handling wise switching to the Tiger. I have a 25km commute up and down a twisty mountain road and I was actually riding faster on the Tiger than the CBF, skinny little 21" front tire worked surprising well on the street, even with TKC knobbies mounted. Only downside was tire wear, I'd go through 2 fronts for every rear simply because I think you're asking a lot of that little contact patch, so you pay for it in tire wear.

Jodie swears she'll never sell her Street Triple or her DR so I figured we're stuck doing some street rides, I may as well have a street bike. Have been admiring Guzzi's for awhile and actually went in looking at Norge's. Jodie can't carry much on her Street Triple so on trips, I'm the pack mule so I figured a sport tourer was in order. I liked the Norge but sitting on the GRiSO just sealed the deal, that was the bike I really wanted and when the salesman said I could put bags on it, well that was all it took.

So basically, nothing wrong with the Tiger and if I had to have only one bike, that would probably be it.

I guess I made the right choice then - going for the GRiSO. I admire the off-road guys but I would be just too scared to wreck my $ 15,000 precious machine by playing in the sand. And how people get a Triumph Tiger (let alone a GS1200) up on its wheels again after a fall in the middle of nowhere is a mystery to me.
So in practice I think I would hardly ever venture off the tarmac and I would have a beautiful Tiger but use only 50% of its capabilities. Then I think it is better to buy an beaten-up light-weight KTM250 for Sunday fun.

But anyway, I had a similar feeling when seeing and (especially) sitting on a GRiSO: it was "exactly right".

you should ride some of the roads in New England.. then you'd see why people ride "adventure" bikes

Plenty of pot holes and patches in my neck of the woods too. I test rode a Tiger Sport 1050 (very good if a little bland) then a Stelvio (loved the motor but too high and top-heavy), looked at the new V Strom, but couldn't resist a lightly used GRiSO in great condition with pipe and factory bags. Not a choice really, more a compulsion. Now loving every minute with it. I also get to ride my wife's V7 Stone for shorter trips. Very Happy

Same here, some of our best little known back roads can get pretty rough and that's where the "adventure" bikes shine. You can still ride at a fun pace without beating yourself or the bike up. The GRiSO has enough suspension to still be fun on those roads, but my son was complaining when his tail light broke off his Speed Triple and was dangling by the plug. Surprised

That's part of the fun of going off road. Very Happy

But man to me anyway, riding off road is with a light bike... like a 450 or something.

Your Stelvio looks like it has the same condition my buddy Hellgate from apriliaforum suffers with his Stelvio.

That was on that same ride. Four days of dusty riding and the air filter was toast. I installed a UNI pre-filter so now the air filter doesn't get totally clogged when riding in the dirt.
