| The ECU seems to have gone on strike. There are no faults showing on the dash diagnostics but Guzzidiag won't connect any longer. Other than the dash showing the red triangle and the ecu disconnected symbol which normally only appears when I download a map nothing else works. Any help much appreciated. | Check the usual suspects. ECU ground and connectors. Assuming battery is OK.

| The time gives a "hint" that something went amiss at some point. Disconnect power overnight and try again in the morning, check earths and plugs as Mark suggested | |

| Thanks for the reply Mark. I have checked the ecu ground wire and that seems fine. The battery is on charge but I had this as a intermittent fault for a few days when the battery was fully charged, now it has downed tools completely.
I have loaded a dozen or so map variants over the 12 months I have had the bike, I wonder if this has caused the problem.

| If I have to replace the ecu has it got to be a 1100 GRiSO item or are there alternatives? | |

| Any IAW-5AM will do. Just upload the map for your bike (original or update) onto your new ECU, reset the TPS and you should be good to go. | |

I don't think one of these ECU's would fade away. If you can't find any other cause, make sure the replacement is a HW610 version. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! .

| I managed to find something on another forum that said:
"there is also a wire loop ( orange) , under the cover at the back of the seat , held by x2 bolts . check this"
I pulled the snorkel off and had a root round pulling a few wires and hey presto the ecu fired up. So it could be a fault in the seat area wiring not the ecu itself. Of course this may only be a temporary fix. Watch this space.

| Ah, the old "diode presetting" loop. I keep forgetting about that, because it's not on the 8V loom. Good find!

| Anyway the little bastard looks like this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Unplug it and the ecu goes tits up. I can't find a fault with mine but it seems to be the culprit. | |

| "Diode presetting" is Guzzi-speak for reverse polarity protection. Just a diode. It's a redundancy from earlier models. The 5AM doesn't need it, but someone forgot to tell Luigi. They removed it from the 8V models.
