Luigi, you prat, you plonker, you limoncello-guzzling schmuck.

In the course of a fairly deep dive into my 8V, it seemed I might have lost the inner (head-side) crush washer (of two) belonging to the inboard RH cylinder head oil feed banjo.

A thorough and time-consuming search by experienced adults (as in not me) never turned it up. It was never there.

The bike has had maddening and somewhat mysterious oil leaks all along, plus some of them not at all baffling, just tedious loose banjos, some hard to get at bad sensors. Twice.

But one persistent and strangely intermittent leak
defied my hunt. I finally had to conclude it had to be the LH oil galley set screws, and was about to attack them. Certainly the oil was always on the left. On my left boot, left pant leg, tire, muffler...Good thing I didn’t. After (someone who knows what’s up) stopped me and put the banjo, and the bike, back together correctly, I rode the bike about 70 miles at lock-me-up speeds, hey, no leak!

It has now sat 24 hours, no leak!

Lesson:
Mystery leak?
Include absent crush washers in your list.
Do not assume the leak is on the same side as it shows up on, especially if it’s manifesting on the side-stand side.

Grease is a theory not practice, at the factory.
