Had a great afternoon yesterday, called on an old mate who lives about 50 miles away.
After a bit fettling on his restored LeMans II, tappets check and timing check he offered a ride on it well what can you say but yes. We did around 40 miles and the old thing runs great if a little cramped. It also seamed like the speedo was reading very fast but after checking it against his Yam they were within a nats of each other. You just don’t get any breeze therefore the guzzi fairing must work quite well.
Another quick blast home on the GRiSO take the bugs of and a cold beer life don’t get much better.

Some before and after pictures of the LeMans.

Good to see the old girl still being ridden.

Such a beautiful bike. The round heads seem timeless to me.

It amazes me how everything has been super-sized after McDonalds ..................... "and would you like fry's with that?"

Bellagio has same engine block as early Le Mans, I sat on a MkII recently and couldn't figure out why a modern bike has to be so big, so fat, so tall.
Ok Bella is a cruiser of sorts, but compare a MkIII with a new 1200 Sport.  elephant

I was just staring at my GRiSO as it sat on the front walk and thinking how compact it looks. In the latest Cycle World an article on the Honda Valkyrie mentions that it has a 19" front wheel. As Nigel Tufnel would note: "That's one more..."

I wouldn't want my GRiSO any smaller. I'd be too big for it. I wouldn't mind if it was lighter....

BTW, the seat on that LM looks hard. Very hard.

Here is picture of them both together as you can see seat to footrest is tighter on the LeMans my legs wont fit behind the fairing.

After riding it the GRiSO felt very roomy.

Is it me or does the GRiSO looks about the same size?
Even the wheel base looks about the same...

At first glance the wheelbase on the LM looks longer, but it's probably an optical illusion caused by the larger wheel diameter.

Yeah optical illusion does that but one can see that the GRiSO is a more compact bike for sure and I like that.

I believe it.
Riding the GRiSO can be like making love to a locomotive.

While there is nothing wrong with the younger generation of Guzzi's, my flights of fantasy were performed on a MKIII and so it shall live forever in my mind as the greatest bike I ever owned.

Sylvania Heights (Sydney) to Ipswich (Brisbane) via the Putty, 980klm in 8hours 45 min, with a police escort for the last 80k .................................... sort of. They were following. It was 1982.

Ipswich to Mt Isa via Ayr, 2200k in 25 hours. Another police escort for the last 50k but this time he was in front. Got off the bike and went to work in the mines.

Whether it was the bike or my relative youthfulness? All I know now is I can't ride out of sight on a dark night.
