Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd say hello from Ohio.  We have one Guzzi dealer nearby and I occasionally stop in and drool over the GRiSO - Unfortunately, MG support in my area is sketchy at best, which is why I own a Ducati, for which there is a pretty good, established dealer in the area.  I have to say, though, that GRiSO is a hell of a nice looking machine, the force is strong with this one.

Oh well, maybe someday.

Welcome to the ghetto Steve!

It may not happen until you are old and chubby, but if the GRiSO speaks to you, you will come...

How mechanically inclined are you?
Most of us do our own maintenance and it's not hard really so you don't need a dealer...
If you like the bike, get it, simple as that. You live only once.
I'm not being a smart ass or trying to sound like a broken record but I found out that I missed a lot a fun in life by being shy or too cautious.
Fuck that! Not anymore, I'm not getting younger and if there is something worthwhile I can do and I can afford it, I'm going for it.
Motorcycling is one of those things...

Anyway, welcome to the nut house. Smile

Hiya grisonut, a man's got to know his limitations and I know mine - if i take a wrench to it, it'll never run again, LOL.

I once lived in a place where Guzzi's were not heard of, but a local Ducati specialist had a wee chubby for the Mandello breed. Turned out all his diagnostic elecktrickery was compatible with my bike coz it was all Magneti Marelli anyway. He made my bike run just fine.

PostSubject: St 1300   Hello from Ohio Icon_minitime1Thu Jun 05, 2014 5:14 pm

Hi Steve, I too hail from Ohio, but I've resided in Arizona for the last 28 years. Guzzi's were never popular back there. That was Brit bike territory at least where I lived, Stark County. I had a buddy in HS that had a Ducati Monza 160, pretty exotic. Anyway I now have a 2014 GRiSO and while I love the bike it wouldn't hold a candle to my 02 VFR. Touring, sport riding whatever the Honda was superior and the ST is just a bigger more capable VFR. I have heard all the arguments, Honda's lack soul etc. Bullshit! I can still hear the small block roar of my Staintunes whilst dispatching a 916 on the way to Tortilla Flat several years ago. Do yourself a favor and actually ride a GRiSO, looks are deceiving, it is a beautiful motorcycle, flawed but beautiful.
I love my GRiSO but the new 2014 Interceptor is calling me....

Hiya Enzo, nothing good is going to come from a GRiSO test ride, LOL. Nothing wrong with the vfr's, i loves me some v-4's. Did you see they are reviving the vfr 800?

I got rid of my 2002 VFR for my first Guzzi. Nice bike, but too sewing machine like for me. Absolutely no character at all. It's the only bike that I've gotten rid of after 3 months (12,000 miles) of ownership and it was flawless mechanically.

I wouldn't trade my oldest Guzzi in the garage for a handful of 'em. Of all the Honda's I've owned, it was my least favorite.

If I were looking today, I'd go for the Norge 8v over the VFR or perhaps if I needed to fill the urge for high horsepower, high speed sport touring, the Ducati Multistrada or new Aprilia Caponord.

I do loves me some Ducati ST3's though. In the same vane, the Aprilia Futura.

Yeah, I can't do Jap bikes anymore... Don't care how fucking fast or reliable they are.
Few exceptions like the RC51 and some of the last 500 two stroke but for the most part, they bore me to death.
Not as bad as BMW but close. lol
My Nephew in France has a MT01 Yamaha and it seems to be a blast...

Two stroke porn - my other bike
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]" />

Aprilia RS250 chassis
Yamaha RZ250 engine.
+4mm stroker crank (from 54 to 58mm)
+19mm monoblock cylinders (from 54 to 73mm) = 485cc

Is that close enough to 500cc?  Very Happy

Hey everyone, I don't think there are any brands I don't like, the new fz09/mt09 is pretty nice. You have to respect companies that can bring us bikes like the rc-30/45 & nr750. That said, there really is something special about European bikes, and the Italian bikes, specifically.

I remember when I would get on my old 916, I felt like superman, when I got off, i turned back into a slob, LOL.

+1.. I spent a ton of money modifying Kawasaki Z1000 and ZX14 to stupid power levels.. just no soul and took a bath and sold them to put up with the typical guzzi issues. Wish the MT01 came to america.. that bike is a total copy of a V11 sport which I owned. But my GRiSO will kick it's ass now..

Plenty close. Very Happy
I had a V4 RDLC (RZ in the US) and it was a POS really, the 350 I had before that was a winner. Poke holes in pistons twice under warranty on the 500, but I switched to the RG Gamma... Holly shit!! Talk about pure fury...
Had it tweaked to about 130 hp, lol. never broke down on me after 30K kilometers and I was rough on it.
Best two stroke street bike I ever sat on and how I manage to stay alive with that bike is beyond me!!

Hey ; Did you ever hear me call the GRiSO the Anti-VFR?? Smile

AS for Jap bikes - I did a demo ride on the FZ09 and I DO want it. Badly. It had (dare I say??) - personality? Yes.

That's the problem.
Is the MV Agusta triple as fun as the Yam?
Two times the price fun?????

I just did a demo ride on Triumph 675 Triple and found it wanting.
How about the MV??

Argh.

my brother has an ST3... its ok
needs a map  Very Happy

I'd have the 2 valve Norge over it though.

Norge:

easier to work on
smoother
better gas mileage
better map (thanks to Mark)
same wonky front rotors (so that's a push)
can be had dirt cheap
better luggage (and looks better w/ luggage on or off)

ST3

better suspension
Ducati

hmm

that's all I got

 Very Happy

PS: opinions purely my own
I did like riding my brother's ST3
he lives on Vancouver Island, so there's no good opportunity to wring it out

My wife and I were just looking over an ST4.
It would be nice to have luggage.
But we are going to get a local guy to make us a rack to bolt onto my GRiSO instead and then we should be plenty happy.

We have recently purchased some soft bags and then this SaddleMaster soft cast and they lack the rigidity to stop themselves from rubbing on the tire.
All we need is a rack.
And I am willing to look at the local guy for right now.
