Well, I've been communicating with a bloke with a flat tappet Stelvio. He has a FSH and the shop he took it to is trying to charge him $490 for pulling the left cambox! Then, despite his tappets being stuffed the warranty droid at PS has said no claim as the damage "Isn't bad enough".

Doesn't bode well for anyone putting down the sponds for a V85 eh?

Just too lazy to submit a claim methinks.

You check both sides not just one. At that price it took him 4 times too long. You must not have a warranty time sheet in AU. I wouldn't run that motor cuz I bet the pin is behind the big hole.

They're buggered. Their 'Warranty Man' obviously knows nothing about DLC or how it works. Once it starts to lift its stuffed. There is no such thing as 'Acceptable wear'.

I wonder if the V85's start shedding heads off their fancy TI valves that will be 'Acceptable wear' too.

That is evidence that they haven't done one before, same w/the time charge. Once it changes color then it peels then it grinds.

I had to buy some replacement cap screws for my Sport side panels and did it via Stein Dinse (SD)in Victoria who was kind enough to mail them to me. He told me an interesting story about PS ....
An old customer of Stein Dinse bought a V9 and asked if Stein Dinse could do the 1st service on it - Stein Dinse rang PS to find that the Guzzi man there was also an old (but not very good) customer of his. The response was that if SD performed the 1st service the warranty would be void. SD asked why, when he had much experience in servicing Guzzis and Ducs and had even serviced and worked on the "Guzzi" chap from PS own bikes ?
The PS guy just said it was the way it is and even rang the V9 owner to warn him off.
SD just filed this away... 6 weeks later....
The Guzzi guy from PS rings him and asks if he has a set of liners and pistons for an 850 LeMans in stock, complaining that the factory would take 3 months to source and supply them to PS.
SD answers that he has them in stock .... PS asks that he freight them urgently to PS in Melbourne.
SD says OK but who is going to install them ?
PS answers with some authority and bluster "we are of course". SD takes great pleasure in saying he is not happy with PS doing this sort of work, they are not experienced enough in LeMans work and that SD would not offer any warranty on the parts at all, unless SD fitted the parts.
Long silence, bluster, threats.
4 weeks later the 850 LeMans arrives on a trailer at SD to have the parts fitted.

Well if Bernd did it it'll be just as fucked. The stories I have.....

So Pete what you are saying the new V85 will possibly have the same issues as the early model GRiSO with the DLC coming adrift and possibly creating the same sort of issues with cams etc.
