| Rode Black Betty to work - after my uneventful get-off last weekend. Goes well, handles well, no headlight! Guess I can replace the bulb myself... unless the relay popped out? | |

| Well after months of ignoring it and muttering darkly at it in a corner of the workshop I finally took the Stelvio 1400 back around to Michael after I'd stuck Mark's first map for the big injectors back into it. I was going to fling the 1200 motor back into it but on the way I detoured a bit as it seemed to run so nice and Michael, whose project this really was, convinced me to persevere.
After he'd fixed a couple of small leaks I today took it out for a couple of hundred chilly kilometres and it ran much, much nicer than I remember. It currently has two fuelling issues, the first is just off idle at very small throttle openings between 2 & 3,000rpm which is annoying as this is where you usually are when you're trickling along in traffic. The second is right at the top at WFO in the last 1/8th of throttle opening where you can feel the motor begin to bog down when you are really giving it to it! I can't work out whether it's going rich or lean because when you are WFO on a 1400 in the upper end of the rev range shit gets real very, very quickly! Not Tuono quickly but bloody quick enough!
Anyway now it's leak free I'll drag it over to Wagga where Mark has kindly offered to build it a custom map. Once that is done I suppose I'd better side it around Oz with Peter just like we planned to.
It's really nice to ride it again. They really are a very comfy motorbike. With the Corbin I bought for it it's like riding a big sofa! | |

| It contravenes essentially all the parameters we know work with the 8V but it looks great in my book. I'm guessing it's loud as fuck which wouldn't work for me.

| No idea until I ride it tomorrow. I had a termi on it before, apart from it being used as a knee slider in a previous owners accident, its seemed rather large and it covered the beautiful wheel. Im really not wanting too much louder either. Performance unknown. Shall see

| So feedback on the Pipe after a good ride this morning.
Noise Its about the same or marginally less noise than the Termignoni that was on it. The termi had no db killer in for reference. The main difference is that the termi was closer to the ears I guess and the new system spreads the noise to both sides.
Power. One of the problems i have with the GRiSO from when i got it, was the power curve. From 3000rpm - 4000rpm it ran rough and on deceleration down through this part of the range it back fired. I read that the beetle maps were a big upgrade on standard and supposed that it still had a standard map. I bought a beetle map for the termi and ... it was the same as was in there and that was confirmed by the original owner (just found him at the time and started corresponding to find out about the history). At 4000rpm the bike would clear its throat and run sweet. Problem is that on the highway 100-110km/hr is about 3600-3800rpm so it really doesnt like running there.
The new pipes have dramatically changed this. The rough running is virtually eliminated now and from 3200rpm up the torque is smooth all the way to redline. From 3000-3200rpm its not quite as clean as the rest of way but still better than before. It also doesnt backfire anymore and its a just a little burbly on the run down through this range. Before it would backfire and feel like the power is switched off and when throttling on again it would clear and take off. This is now smooth both ways and quieter without the backfire. It is also much better to ride through a corner and out as the power is smoother getting back on the throttle at this low rpm.
And finally, its lighter than the Termi.

| Hey knumbnutz, can you post up photos of the underside with the belly pan removed. I'd like to see how tight Noel can bend and fit it all in.
Bella is a bit on the loud side (even for a deaf bastard) and now with hearing aids I think I'll need to fix that. I also want a 2 into 2 sound like my original Le Mans, as opposed to my 2-1-2 system, but with both curved mufflers still mounted high on the left. |

| Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. I have not ridden my GRiSO in many months, captivated as I have been by my newer svelte V7’s. But, I have returned at last. See pic of it and beemist friend’s K-something on Skyline Drive last week. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And, now, as I ready for some multi-day romping, I have been experimenting with foot pegs. I read the several threads on this here and finally went with the Slingshot model in black. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Easy enough to install, tho I did mangle the circlips and have more on the way. And, they are near-infinitely adjustable. Unlike many of you here, I don’t worry about scraping because of lowered pegs. I scare myself enough as it is with my “mature” approach to leaning — code for “thinks he’s Rossi but tires don’t show it." [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I am bothered by inability to make the spring work as with OEM. Anyone installed these and broken the code so that the OEM spring doesn’t have the peg flop around? Grazie. Bill | |

| Added spacers to the rear blinkies to get a bit more width. That simple job turned arse after, a) the threaded shank unscrewed from one of the LED units, shearing the wires. Then, b) this idiot installed the right hand blinker on the left side. This is typically not an issue, but in this case required the reversal of wiring polarity (don't ask), which resulted in a broken (then lost) connector pin. I had to do some fiddle-fart soldering, then a bodgy wire connection to get functional rear blinkers.
Then...
Put a new injector in the left pot. Ran like shite. Put the olde injector from the left pot into the right pot. Ran like shite, only less so.
ie, 1st run, explosive diarrhoea. 2nd run, wet fart.
Curious & curiouser.
